62 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 10/20 Munkky (49) , Denmark | April 30, 2013 Interesting place in Shanghai. Dont expect to much when visiting China but this place is worth a visit. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 beerbrat99 (8) Shanghai, China | January 24, 2013 6 beers on tap that rotate often. Pay particular attention to the Boxers Choice beers which range greatly in style. A must visit in Shanghai. They also carry a nice bottle beer selection. The food portions are very good for the price. Great garden patio if the weather accommodates! | 76 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 Schlenkerla (203) , Austria | December 31, 2012 Best microbrewery in China! Good innovation and frequently changing beer offering (Yunnan Red Ale, Wet Hop Ale, Rye IPA,....). Food is good, too, like the spicy sandwiches. Also like the ambiente of a typical US brewpub. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 AlchemikalGab (8) Borgomanero (Novara), Italy | September 13, 2012| Updated November 17, 2012 Nice place, ordered their tasters with a Sparring Session Ale, Brawlin’ Belgian Witbier, Hoppy Ending White IPA, Sucker Punch Pale Ale, TKO IPA and Big Boy DIPA. Nice ambience, full of expat, the only negative note was a very loud music with a ridiculous amount of annoying frequencies, which pumped right in my ear for the whole time I sat there. I mean, the songs were good, but the EQ made the experience really terrible, at least for me. Very nice brews (the IPA and DIPA were the freshest I’ve had in my life), exception made for the belgian witbier, which was not very convincing, and the white IPA, which was closer to a wit than the actual wit. Nice place but the Sinan Mansions location is way better. | 66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 dreamflower (20) Steinbach, Manitoba | July 20, 2012| Updated November 17, 2012 I loved the portobello burger I had here. Okay atmosphere but the pop music destroyed it for me. When you’re trying to have good beer and conversation, house music about crotch grabbing destroys it. Beers were pretty good. | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 4/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 northropfrye (97) Steinbach, Manitoba | July 19, 2012| Updated September 2, 2012 Having just come from Great Leap in Beijing, this place was a bit of a let down. Modern sports bar/pub decor with decent beers. Food was good American bar food but my sliders were undercooked. Tried all the beers and they’re good, but on average Great Leap is better. | 62 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 Camons (129) Hasselager, Denmark | January 14, 2012| Updated September 2, 2012 Small cozy brewpub abit away from the hectic downtown. (10 min taxidrive)
As the other place they had 6 beers on tap, 4 regulars and 2 rotation of the brewers choice series. Had a decent bottle selection aswell, Rogue, Brewdog among others. Food (we had pulled pork sandwiches and burgers) was tasty. Service was abit on the slowside, even if the pub only was half full at the time where. Overall I prefer the other location, even through the beers i had here was excellent. | 66 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 TimE (216) Tokyo, Japan | July 3, 2011| Updated September 2, 2012 This place rocked. Great service by staff. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to eat so they comped me a small bowl of spicy potato chips while "I think it over". Beer was seriously great. Laid back. Good mix of locals an expats. Everyone was friendly. Of course I wish they had more than four taps (note the other Boxing cat has six and not necessarily the same beers). Great place to hang out with beer geeks or non- beer geeks. A breath of fesh air after the Shanghai brewery. The crowd here is much more mainstream. Won’t get that of high of mark from
me because I am comparing selection and atmosphere globally, but in shanghai this is a n absolute must see. Love it. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 Lubiere (412) Ottawa, Ontario | November 29, 2010| Updated September 2, 2012 A pleasant brewpub in the west of Shanghai, on 3 floors. The first floor is very German inspired, but with a very North American pub fare. I had an interesting pulled pork sandwich with a weirdly flavoured Chinese cole slaw. Four beers on tap, all fairly solid and worthwhile. Service was friendly and English is spoken. One of the partners came to chat with me a bit. It appears the chain is adding a new location at 519 Fu Xing Rd, sign that the beermania is catching on in China. | 34 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 3/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 1/10 OVERALL 6/20 kosherbeer (30) gudvangen, Norway | April 25, 2010| Updated September 2, 2012 they had a function on when i went so understandably slow service, but not altogether welcoming, bund brewery much, much better!!! |
