One of the best place in rome... there are two stairs: at the first there is the restaurant and the taps; upstairs there is a nice terrace... the selection of american, danish, scandinavian beers is probably the best in rome... they are also an excellent restaurant with a very good beer-couisine!!
A fantastic place ! it’s an old depot for train supply, transformed into one of the most interesting beer places on earth. Very professional staff, very friendly, all doing a perfect job. Like 20 beers on tap, some are rare and hard to find. The selection of bottles is mindblowing, the way the beers are served is most professional and done with allot of love and care. The food is super refined and made with freshest ingredients. I had a selection of the most refined Antipasti, Gamberini Rosso with a lambic vinaigrette, Fresh oysters, octopus sallad, pasta with fresh and very aromatic muchrooms, carpaccio from seabas and many more. Alex also has this fenomenal whisky collection that makes you drool. The ambiance is legendary and the people are just fantastic. I had beers from De Molen, Mikkeller, Port Brewing, Hopfrogg, brew dog, Struise, White Dog, some speciale 4;20 beers, stuff from lost abbey and many more. I had a fantastic time ! Thanks Alex. Really amazing place, not a pub, as a lot of people still unfortunately call it...Fantastic atmosphere inside, especially at the bar, marvelous fish-cousin (I think is the only italian brasserie serving fish and beers!!) and one of the best selection of beers (from all over the world) I have ever seen...Wide and high-quolity single malt selection. Special bonus in my score for the innovative concept and "beer culture" it tries to promote!!!
Living in Rome...my favorite place
E’ un paradiso per gli amanti della birra (e del whisky) ed ha il merito di aver fatto conoscere a Roma birre che altrimenti la città non avrebbe mai assagiato. 10 e lode ad Alex ed ai ragazzi del quattoeventi!

You know how much I luv the beer bar at 547 Haight St, right?? Well, I now have a new favorite. Brasserie 4:20 is amazing. Let’s begin with the subterannean brick old world feel. Add to that great music, I walked in to a long set by Joy Division, a great staff, and friendly patrons. The beer selection is fantastic with many of Revelation Cat’s beers featured on tap. The vintage bottle list, is well, let me put it like this. I started with a ’07 Stormaktsporter, moved on to a bottle of 3F Millennium Gueze (can you imagine?), and finished up with an ’09 BA Santa’s Little Helper. The staff and the presentation of the beer were top notch. A huge tip of the cap to Dino, Alessandra, and Alex who was the most gracious of host....
Ok this is a Tricky one. Yeah we were treated like Royalty when Alex Organised RBESG 2010 ... but even trying to ignore that This has to be one of the Best bars i have ever been into.
They had UK Cask ales from some of the better UK brewies, they had De Molen, Nogne, De struise and Mikkeller to name just a few from there many taps. Both Downstairs and the Wonderfull roof gardens were comfortableand relaxing places to eat and drink.
The food while too fish based for my liking was superb... so while my choice wasnt great what there was was amazing ... and if you liek fish well im sure this is just the place for you...
While i like the idea of only beer, whisky and water, I cant help but thinking a few choice alternatives would make it easier to get your mates along, and offer a decent soft drink for the driver... But the place seemed busy most of the time so it seems to be working...
The staff were amazing despite being served by three different people over the course of the evening they had my bill spot on (with a hefty discount from Alex) ive no idea how they managed to keep track of what i ordered as i wasnt sitting in one place all night, and some were ordered from the table others from the bar...
Yeah its dear (well normally Huge thanks to Alex for his generousity) but thats because they serve some of the best beers available sourced from all over the world. ... and while value is about the only area this one misses out on top spot on MY WIFE WOULD HATE ME TO LIVE NEAR HERE... as i would be there most nights, scared that i would miss out on the net great beer to appear...
And should i ever win the lottery the first thing i will be doing is picking Alexs brain on how to do the same thing here in Edinburgh ... If every town had a bar like this we could convert the Macro drinkers in there droves
