Brasserie 4:20 represent the closest place to the Cockaigne for beer in Italy. You could stand for hours sitting at the bar and watching the shelf: Iíve never seen such a range of american beers in Italy, and so for many european labels like Mikkeller, Nogne, De Molen... nor to speak of the lambic (Cantillon 2002 or later, and 3 Fontainen too!!!). Also thereís a great vintage list, but unaffordable (some non-vintage bottles too, maybe). Alex, the owner, is one of the greatest beer-fancier Iíve ever met; his passion doesnít know edges. He has the right and best attitude: beer is something you have tp principally *drink* together. Donít miss a chat with him if you are enough lucky to run into! However, his principal employee at the bar, Francesco, is kind and nice. Desserts are DELICIOUS: taking "Tiramistout" accompained with the right beer itís a commitment you canít evade!!! Perhaps food prices are not so cheap, but cooking is EXCELLENT and worth *every* euro. Courses are elaborate and helpings not huge, but itís not the typical trendy slow-food bullshit. A fish-centric dinner is recommended. Brasserie 4:20 remains probably my favourite pub ever.

Brasserie 4:20 is a brilliant place. If you are lucky to visit when Alex is around you will experience an amazing host! The venue is a decent walk from the city centre but Im sure buses stop close by. Inside is a harmonious cellar atmosphere with exposed brick and warm glow of dimmed lights. As you walk in you are welcomed by a vintage gueuze cabinet! Fantastic range of beer on tap, with a few Mikkeller brews for example. There are many bottles available and also a vintage bottle menu but expect to pay hefty for the privelidge. Also food is top notch. A must visit in Rome or anywhere in the world for that matter.

Excellent selection (both casks and bottles). Beautiful place with a big terrace on the top for the summer (it is also possible to smoke). Food is ok, more international than italian. People serving is not always really helpful or kind.

Cibo discreto. Prezzi alcune volte un po alti.

Really amazing place, not a pub, as a lot of people still unfortunately call it...Fantastic atmosphere inside, especially at the bar, marvelous fish-cousin (I think is the only italian brasserie serving fish and beers!!) and one of the best selection of beers (from all over the world) I have ever seen...Wide and high-quolity single malt selection. Special bonus in my score for the innovative concept and "beer culture" it tries to promote!!! Living in favorite place

just A beer paradise! I have not enough words to explain how fantastic that place is!!!. HUGE american, and scandinavian beer selection (bottles and TAPs). You canít drink average beers there, only brewering masterpieces! Alex, the owner, is a VERY VERY passionate, competent and friendly guy. He imports himself the beer available at the pub. Till 8p.m. you could even just buy the bottles like a normal beer shop (UPDATE: not anymore). The food is really really good (especially desserts), a little bit expensive maybe. The place is great. thereís a fantastic, cosy "biergarten" upstairs too. definitely one of the best pubs in europe.

A fantastic place ! itís an old depot for train supply, transformed into one of the most interesting beer places on earth. Very professional staff, very friendly, all doing a perfect job. Like 20 beers on tap, some are rare and hard to find. The selection of bottles is mindblowing, the way the beers are served is most professional and done with allot of love and care. The food is super refined and made with freshest ingredients. I had a selection of the most refined Antipasti, Gamberini Rosso with a lambic vinaigrette, Fresh oysters, octopus sallad, pasta with fresh and very aromatic muchrooms, carpaccio from seabas and many more. Alex also has this fenomenal whisky collection that makes you drool. The ambiance is legendary and the people are just fantastic. I had beers from De Molen, Mikkeller, Port Brewing, Hopfrogg, brew dog, Struise, White Dog, some speciale 4;20 beers, stuff from lost abbey and many more. I had a fantastic time ! Thanks Alex.
