Locanda davvero curata e ben arredata. Cibo fantastico, fresco e ben presentato. Le birre buona ma non all’altezza del resto.

Visited a couple of times, in good company with my parents. A traditionel brauhaus, placed very close to Bamberg. Easy to get there by car, and parking is just outside. Good selection of beers, brewed in a traditionel german style, well conditioned and served with a smile, from the friendly and serviceminded staff. They do traditional franconian food as well, but we haven´t eaten there yet. For sure worth a visit if you are in the area.

Ate, tried all the beers, and stayed at the inn. The food and beer are standard for the area... good, but doesn’t stand out. The inn is a bit overpriced, but nice, and the breakfast was awesome. There were 3 beers available when I went. You could get a sampler of all 3, but I’m an adult, so I got full glasses of everything. The great bonus of this place is that there’s another brewpub right next door.

There cannot be many villages in the world - even urban ones - that support two top rate brewery-hotels about 50 metres apart. Both to similarly high standards. We ended up eating and drinking in both ands would not like to call it. They are a good double act. The Rauchbier is pretty good.

Visited on 18/7/2012. Well presented place, more a restaurant than a pub. I sat on the terrace at the rear and enjoyed the lager and Stöffla beers, along with an excellent Schäuferla. Service was efficient and friendly. Good place.

Opens at 9, but kitchen doesn’t til 12 – tells you what kind of a area you’re in! They have a sampler (3x0,1L for €2,50). Place has sort of a country kitchen feel, beers were different (spelt and a smoked), interesting, and definitely worth the short bike ride.

Nice Brauereigaststätt which I visited at 29.04.2012. Nice interior. The beers was average in my opinion.

Visited March 2012. Enjoyable brewery tap with good service. Someone I took to be the owner or manager came into the room and said hello to all there a few times. I tasted my way through 4 draught beers in 1/3 litre glasses. I found the standard Lager to be even better than Hohn’s down the road a bit. The Pils was okay, and the Fastenbier and Stoffla rauch beer really, really good. I had a bowl of liver stew was good and much better value (€3) than Hohn also. I visited twice. The 907, 917, and 927 buses all stop near both breweries in town. Visited again July 2013. Talked to the owner.brewer this time who seemed like a nice guy. He took a picture of my Straub beer baseball cap as his name is Straub. I sat out back in the beer garden. Had the liver soup again and the Lager, Rote Weisse, and Rauch, all good.

Why this is rated higher than Hohn, I have no idea. The beer is mediocre at best and some samples are loaded with diacetyl. Beer raters will like the fact that they do sample size flights (4oz each if I remember right), but I must admit that gives it kind of an American brewpub feel that just seems wrong. Convenient for ticking, but gimmicky. Didn’t eat here or look at the food menu, so can’t comment on that. Reasonably nice ambience, though...dark and warm. Our server was polite and spoke good English (she wasn’t from Germany though) but didn’t drink beer at all (working here, I can understand why...zing!). Skip the diacetyl and go to Hohn.

Hotel and restaurant with its own brewery. They put in a smaller installation some years back to increase flexibility. Always at least 3 beers on tap, with 2 or 3 regulars and seasonals. Food is high quality, also a bit pricy but still good value. Beers are good but a bit on the safe side. The owner and his oldest daughter are the brewers. Free wifi also for visitors of the restaurant.
