I stayed here during my Bamberg visit and it makes for a great base with cheap rooms and convenient location. This is a good place to start the day with early opening hours, and each morning I walked down the corridor there were already regulars with their beers at 9am!

Comfortable and clean hotel with a decent (for the price) breakfast bar. Characterful drinking area and good beers. Great location. I can’t figure why you would stay anywhere else in Bamberg.

Visited during Jolly to Bamberg 2014. Nice place with good beers. I styed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. Good rooms and decent breakfast. The beers were surprisingly good, and I like the interior in the pubarea. Hope to visit again.

Great spot either for having a few beers OR for their hotel facilities. I stayed here two nights in January 2014 and quite enjoyed it. The rooms are not fancy but they are more than adequate and great value (something like Euro 45 per night). And the location is great. And the bar area on the ground floor is good. They typically have a few of their beers on offer, and I enjoyed the couple I had. The location of this place is really good, providing quick access to either central Bamberg or the train station. If visiting Bamberg, this makes for a good basecamp.

You come into a corridor with a serving hatch. The pub area is to the right, the accommodations to the left. Interior stuck somewhere in the 70s, like most of the pubs in the area. Two beers on wooden barrels. Served quickly and holds a high quality. Locals flocking in the corridor from the early morning.

Visited for the third time on the weekend of January 24-26 2014. This time slightly different in that i stayed in the upstairs accomodation, €45 per night for an en suite single room plus breakfast, pretty good vfm in my book!
Located half way between the station and the old town (8 - 10 mins from either) and bang opposite Spezial, Fassla makes for a solid base for any Bamberg visit. There are two main areas to Fassla, the corridor to the left of the bar with a serving hatch and a medium sized wood pannelled room with standard table/chair seating and the bar itself. 2 beers dispensed from wooden barrels plus 2 different bottled beers available. Service was prompt and friendly and prices, akin to most Franconian venues fair.
The life and soul of Fassla is the corridor area, which has a couple of tables and chairs, but largely witnesses locals standing with their half litres. I guess this area acts as the stammisch without the customary reserved signs. We drank here after breakfast around 10am and there were a good half dozen locals, one wearing a Fassla scarf, already on the beers! Solid stop on a Bamberg crawl.

I stayed two nights in a nicely modernized room above the brewpub. Waking up to the clinking of the bottling lines was like waking up to the chirping of birds. The breakfasts were included in the price of the room and were high quality. The beer might not have been as good as at other Bamberg brewpubs, but the experience was so convivial that I was made to feel like a local, if for only three days. Highly recommended.

Stayed 2 nights between Xmas and Silvester 2012. OK value for money modern rooms with good quality breakfast. Big place with a "Schwemm(e)" and courtyard that was a pleasure to land in every morning (10am liquid breakfast for many a colourful local) and evening. Beers are the least characteristic of all Bamberg stops we made and selection is rather poor, with only 2 taps and 2 bottles, but ordering at the Schwemme tollbooth makes up for that partly with some old-world, "the customer is our demotic groveling king" cachet.

Visited several times, and in good company with my parents. A bit away from the city center, but still in walking distance. Can at times be rather crowded. Cosy multi roomed brauhaus, friendly service, but not always that quick. They do traditionel german food as well. For sure one of the must-visit places if you are in Bamberg..

I stayed three nights in Fassla, April 2013. Decent room. Fairly large for Europe, it had a television, and our 2nd floor room had a view of Spezial across the street. Reasonable prices for the room, and I would stay there again. One of the better breakfasts I had in 2 weeks in Germany with salami, rolls, bread, fruit, yogurt, and more. The one night I went for beer, they only had one type available, which was disappointing. It was a great sight to see the old guys drinking at 9:30 in the morning.
