Lovely experience. We went here twice in the same trip and I had the same lunch both times I loved it so much (baked trout on a big bed of sauteed spinach with herbed new potatoes on the side...all very buttery but otherwise wonderfully delicious). Charming, modern, woody decor, very bright and cheerful. Our server was friendly and attentive, and even smiled and spoke a little English. And of course the beers...both the kellerbier and bock were excellent. Most of the year they probably only have the kellerbier available, but when it’s this good that’s ok. In the area the only real competition is the Gänstaller Zoiglstube. A must-visit.

clean and bright dining area filled with locals, and out back a delightful patio in a relaxed setting. they offer the kellerbier on draught and in bottles year round, and the heller bock in the fall, and both are world-class. the food menu is very non-traditional, with many fish and chicken options. drie kronen, two doors down, makes subpar beer and is not a place I stop at anymore, but Hohn is a place I make sure to visit every time I’m in Franconia. The kellerbier is very Zoigl-like.
Another small brewery on Memmelsdorf’s Hauptstrasse, a few meters only from Brauerei Drei Kronen. They only brew one beer at Höhn, a severely unfiltered landbier, called Görchla. It was full of character and fruity esters, with yeast swirling about dancing with the hops. Well, you can see my rating for more info. Bottles are available for purchase in many formats, even 3-liter bottles! We didn’t eat here, since we had already eaten at Drei Kronen, but the food being served around us looked very interesting and to similar high standards as imposed by Drei Kronen. The whole place is very classy for the Franconian countryside, even the bathrooms, which were by far the cleanest, shiniest, and most modern I saw on my trip. When visiting Memmelsdorf, you must visit these 2 small breweries! Both are right in the center of town, looking onto the main bus stop, so you have no reason to avoid either. ;)

A nice village pub and restaurant with a nice beergarden. The one and only house beer served is Görchla, a good beer, better than most beer at Drei Kronen, the neighbour brewery. (Visited June 30th 2011)
Visited on 18/7/2012. Stopped by for a beer in this wood panelled bar. Barmaids were friendly and efficient and the Görchla beer was drinkable too. Didn’t eat but the plates coming out of the kitchen did look appetising. Worth a visit.
