Beer: What can you say? Füchschen Alt is the best beer in the world! Food: Kidneys are worth trying! Overall: I love this place!

Second only to Zum Uerige as a place to drink in Dusseldorf. Excellent Altbier and there’s a Weizenbier for the peasants. Good food menu; the Schweinehaxe is justifiably popular, giving you a pice of meat which could easily serve as a joint for a small family.

If you are only visiting one pub in town and want to eat as well as drink great beer, you won’t go wrong here. I’ts a shame that typical German hostelaries lose marks on the beer selection criteria. I’m marking it high here because there is an unparrelelled choice of Altbiers available within a few minutes walk. Your limited choice here will only be the freshest beer you’ll ever taste too. No gambles on stale slow movers here chaps. It gets extreamely crowded in here and unlike most of the other Altbier bars in town there is no standing area here. However, locals are usually happy to move up and share a table and banter with you. Food is hearty and reasonably priced. Try the Rabbit, it’s a house speciality. This place is world class.

Showed up here in the middle of a River Carnival, and the placed was packed, rowdy, and noisy. The guests were great, though, and a good time was had. The beer selection is limited to only their altbier and weizenbier, but the quality of the altbier was quite good. As with all German / European establishments, you have to be ready for some smoke. Tables in the overflow area (which is the only place we could sit) were finished kegs.

Atmospheric and friendly with lovely bright malty alt served from the barrel. The standing-only drinking hall in the front is ideal for a quick round, but the restaurant area is huge.

Really popular place in downtown Düsseldorf, we had to share a table on a wednesday afternoon. They have a nice terasse which was also crowded. The beer was the best alt I had, by a clear margin. Service was kind, our waiter spoke english. Prices were in the norm, didn’t eat anything. If I were to return to Düsseldorf, I would hang here.

First day in Düsseldorf, dragged my wife here after telling her we were visiting a historic landmark, oops, just happened to need a drink as we passed. Could easily pass as part of Düsseldorf’s beer loving past. It was early morning and the roads to the Altstadt were dead quiet. Enjoyed a Continental breakfast with their lovely morning beer - the Silver Fox. Then knocked back some lovely Alt and watched the world wake-up and pass us by for a few hours. The Kobe’s are polite, friendly and a little more laid back than those of Köln. The place itself is your typical warren of timber clad everything, and the meals divine. One of the best Altbiers in the city. Well worth it just for that alone. A lovely place for a beer and a social visit.
