A cool place that needs even more space it was nuts-to-butts on both our visits. Smoky too, of course. Nice beer. Close to the excellent K20 museum, so you can take in some surrealists before throwing back a few. If this place is too crowded, head down a few doors to the Uel... trendier but less packed, and serving the same fresh Fuchsen beer.

Showed up here in the middle of a River Carnival, and the placed was packed, rowdy, and noisy. The guests were great, though, and a good time was had. The beer selection is limited to only their altbier and weizenbier, but the quality of the altbier was quite good. As with all German / European establishments, you have to be ready for some smoke. Tables in the overflow area (which is the only place we could sit) were finished kegs.

How do you rate selection in an alt bar i wonder? Really nice wooden interior, a bit smokey however. Alt was excellent. Only problem is its not as close as the other alt bars down there.

A rather fine, classy by german standards hang out with delicate glass ornaments and a really nice fox vitrine. A mixed clientele of business people, tourists and locals. I have not eaten, but it smelled very good. Their weiyen may be a bit ordinary, but their alt is the crispiest in town.

First day in Düsseldorf, dragged my wife here after telling her we were visiting a historic landmark, oops, just happened to need a drink as we passed. Could easily pass as part of Düsseldorf’s beer loving past. It was early morning and the roads to the Altstadt were dead quiet. Enjoyed a Continental breakfast with their lovely morning beer - the Silver Fox. Then knocked back some lovely Alt and watched the world wake-up and pass us by for a few hours. The Kobe’s are polite, friendly and a little more laid back than those of Köln. The place itself is your typical warren of timber clad everything, and the meals divine. One of the best Altbiers in the city. Well worth it just for that alone. A lovely place for a beer and a social visit.

The first place I visited when I arrived in Dusseldorf for my 2-day stay. Had some lunch, as well as the Fuchschen Alt, which was incredibly delicious, very rich, right level of sweetness, properly hopped. For lunch I ordered the Schlachtplatte, which has some liverwurst, bratwurst, bloodwurst, back bacon, and a couple of other sausages - served with mashed potatoes and red cabbage. Wonderful meal. I even came back the next day for more food, ordering the special of the day, which was pork roast with cabbage and potatoes. Don’t visit Dusseldorf without hitting this place.

Good service, English spoken (which helps those of us who have forgotten our German knowledge), a nice setting for the two brews available. The food is generous- I opted for the pork knuckle as described by Michael Jackson- it is not exactly gourmet, but hearty. Absolutely recommended if you are in Düsseldorf.

A typical old fashioned German beer-hall; wooden barrels, wood on the walls and on the ceilings........Often a bit overcrowded (in the evenings), but their Alt is worth a journey ! Quite tasty (by brewery-tap standards) meals, prompt service.
The Weihnachts-Bier ( a stronger Alt) is available in bottles already in November, on draught only on December, 24th...................

Typical old fashioned German atmosphere. Great quality beer. Quick and efficient service. It was still early in the day, so it was fairly quiet. Had a very good seat in front of the copper bar. Was there in december, but no Weihnachten bier available, alas. A must if you are in Düsseldorf
