This is on the north end of the Altstadt and seems to be a popular spot. We were there pretty late in the evening on a quest to try every Altbier that evening. Upon arriving I asked to try all their house beers, to which they gave me attitude and asked if I meant an Altbier. I asked if they make anything else in addition to the alt and they came out with a bottle of hefe. The hefe wasn’t all that good, at least compared to the Alt. It was called silver fox. They also have a stuffed fox in a glass container above the bar. The place was pretty open and didn’t have the same feel as the other brewpubs. Service was a little gruff but not disrespectful or anything.

May 2013. My third stop after Uerige. I sat outside in the shade on the long table. Locals all around. Big pork knuckles on the menu, but I didn’t eat. Good beer and a nice space under the awning in the shade for an early start to Friday. I liked this place very much .There is also a large space indoors.
Another awesome Alt place. There was some festival going on and the place was spilling into the street. Ducked inside and looked really cool. Trays of Alt were regular and no one was empty. Around 2 euro for a glass is a great deal.
One of the 4 must-visits when in town. A large drinking/dining hall and a smaller drinking area by the bar where you can watch them change massive wooden barrels every 20 mins or so! Always busy and marginally cheaper than Schlussel or Uerige, but in my opinion not as good beer qualitywise.
Nice place inside, but it gets crowded. Very nice food. I expected their altbier to be better (probably I was not in good shape that night :p ) I bought a vase of mustard from there which is really good
Cozy interior in the usual dark brown and old fashioned style. The service was efficient, but a bit unfriendly. The selection consisted of their Alt, which was really good and their weizen which was somewhat middle of the road.
