Stopped by for some bottles, as the restaurant wasnít open for a few hours. Chatted with the brewer about his recent trip to Belgium and he sold me two nice lagers. Want to go back for the Kellerbier.

Good beers, but no real stars. Place itself is nice.

a gem of Franconia, one I will revisit often. you wouldnít know it from the ratings, but Lieberth is producing some amazing lager. from the ratings Lieberth seemed like just another stop on the dayís ride through the area. instead what we happened upon was some superb pilsner and lagerbier. no, these arenít wild experiments pushing the traditional German recipes to the extreme - these are lagers of Bavaria without flaws. the brewer Christian makes only lagerbier, pils and kellerbier (which is the same pils but left unfiltered - compare the ratings and youíll see the difference is not because of filtration, but because the pils is available in bottle and can be rated at a ticker tasting by those who care not for German lager). the space itself is small but boisterous at night once it fills up, beer quality much higher than Rittmayer a couple of doors down, and the brewer Christian is a class act and very welcoming and accommodating, as we visited during off-hours in the afternoon earlier in the day and he showed us around and chatted. we came back that night and consumed many more crocs of the wonderful kellerbier. Itís more of a winter place than summer, when the keller is open and the brauerei closed. Thatís the reason I seem to be the only person to rate the brewery itself and not the Dorfkeller.
