A little bit out of the center of the city, but a cool little place to get your Muehlen kolsch tick. Nice ambiance, good service, and a pretty good crowd. Not my favorite kolsch, however.

If it is not world-famous it should be. One of the few - ??? the only - brewery taps in Cologne - they make the stuff next door. Scrub-top tables, perpetually changing demand from hectic to docile. Above average food. Career waiters. Some uniquely beautiful touches. You have to go if you are in town.

(Visited 11/2011): Malzmühle is located on the south side of Cologne, sort of away from the crowded tourist areas. The interior has an authentic communal beer hall feel. Old pictures adorn the walls, along with antlers, and there is a winding staircase to the upper floor. We found a spot in a small standing area near the back that had what I can only compare to a bank teller window. Malzmühle has just one beer, a Kölsch which is pretty good. Service on a busy early evening was good. As always, despite the language barrier we were served in a friendly manner. We did not have any food on our visit. Overall this is a cool little spot to visit in Cologne.

Muhlen kolsch is very good: complex aroma and taste, lasting foam and proper lacing. Excellent efficient and polite service. Nice interior too. Go there!

One of the best Kolsch’ is made here. Muhlen Kolsch. Fine and quick service. Solid German food. Great!

Kölns zweitbestes Kölsch gibt es in der Malzmühle. Ambiente wie es kölscher nicht sein kann, leckere Speisen und mittlerweile auch ein "Spezialbier" (Feynbier). Wären die Preise für alles nicht so hoch würde man gerne öfter einkehren.

Very traditional Brauereigaststätte on the edge of the old town. Roomy interior, classic. A must visit, as it is one of the few real brewpubs, together with Päffgen.

Place was almost empty there. Service was cold and not very friendly to those that are not local. Nice beer but ambient was poor.

Nice decor to this place indeed. It was a very nice pub serving a nice brew, very crowded and our service suffered. We ended up just leaving our money on the table and walking out, since our waiter just disappeared.
