A great place with really great beer. That is quite different from the norm around. The food was great. The place is really family friendly and a lot of things for the kids to do, while the parents enjoy the beer.
Out of this great setting with 2 awesome kellers lies this relatively ugly duckling. Itís a brewpub, they make their beer onsite but it just isnít very good. The seating area is packed, loud, and generally uncomfortable, strange sudden change in ambiance with the two other places literally within a stones throw of the place. The prices were higher and everything just had a more commercial aspect to it. Will return to Kreuzberg, wonít waste time on this place.
Visited many times. Almost every time it has been quit a busy place and crowed .. You can get both food and beer, find sun or shadow as you want. Beers has alwas been in good condition, andalwas new sesson beers also for me. The keller can be a bit tricky to find / get to - but for sure worth the trip, so we will be back..
That was really a good surprise!
Not really in the town of Hallendorf, itís up to the Kreuzberg. Located close to the church and in the middle of the forest.
Kinda big place, with a good biergarten and tables inside(closed in summer).
The food is good, average prices and good quality. The selection is good, around 10 home beers in tap.
The bad thing is that everything is selfservice...
Big and rather busy place, with the well ordered rows of benches looking a bit less organic than the other kellers in the area. Quite a few different beer, some classic German styles, and some more modern/experimental/gimmicky. Rather expensive for the area.
On the hill between Stiebarlimbach, Schnaid and Hallerndord sits Kreuzberg keller amid the rest of the facilities. Itís a rather busy, crowded and loud bierkeller, not very comfortable for a session, and the Kreuzberg beer was way off - lots of diacetyl and vegetable notes, and rough as well. Very poor beer and a lot of gimmicky beer on the menu. So, bad experience for me here. If you donít mind the crowds, the playground, etc., and if their beer is what you go for, you will like it a lot. I found better beer next door at the Rittmayer keller (though some problems there as well). And Lieberth, of course, is a good bet.
Visited several times. The keller is a bit tricky to get to, and we have arrived from different directions almost every time :-) going through forests, driving on gravel roads, passing small, old churches and then you arrive at distination :-) thirsty and ready for some nice german beer.. And this is what you get!!! Well served beers in good condition, friendly staff, and very cosy sitting under the trees in the beergarden, enjoying the beers, a bit surprised that so many people find their way out in the middle of nowhere, to have a drink - but for sure worth the trip, and I will be back..
Up a hill, through a farm, and into the woods. One relatively large biergarten with two smaller bierkellers right next door. This is an awesome place to visit. Friedel was serving probably 5-7 beers, including an awesome rauchbier.
Visited on 16/07/2012 after a 2.5 hour walk from Buttenheim via Hallerndorf. The Keller was excellent with its wide selection of beers brewed on site, including some unusual ones such as the 3.8% Pilgertrunk and Schlotfegerla smoked. The wiener schnitzel with fries was very good value at E5.50. The keller was pleasantly busy without becoming crowded and service was good. A good beer locations.
