Overcrowded Brauhaus serving the most lousy beer imaginable. Food and service are good.

Appealing location with larger-than-expected Brauhaus cum brewing facilities and former malting chambers in the cellar now used as quite chique party vaults, including an interesting fresco uniting all of Bonn’s famous native sons. The Bönnsch they serve in a curved Kölsch glass with a handgrip imprint is something else, just as its distinctly unpasteurised nose, close to Gose, doubtfully stealing the show over their other 2 offerings. Service: palliative combination of perky, but not particularly beer-savvy Eastern European waitresses and barely energetic enough for eyerolling local waiters. Had a typically decent value for money lunch here, bland fare. Seems to usually get a decent amount of local patronage, but then again it’s the former BRD’s capital’s only Brauhaus...I pretty much stumbled in here on a rainy day: how do I renounce my involuntary mayorship?

Visit during the Weihnachtsmarkt in Bonn. The pub was crowded, we stood outside, had to get our beers from the bar inside, but that wasn’t a great problem. Service inside at the bar was friendly, prices are ok. I had the Weihnachtsbier which was outstanding, and the "normal" Bönnsch trüb, which was disgusting.
All in all I would come back rating their other seasonal brews and probably try some food, but I will never drink their "Bönnsch trüb" again! And my wife was a bit disappointed because they only serve their Glühwein made from blackberries only Friday to Sunday...

Visited this place 30/9-2012.
This is a very busy down town brewpub. It took 45 minutes before we could make out orders.
- and you have to be patient, if you order food, that did take way to long time to serve...
Beers where ok though, nothing really interesting about it, but well brewed..
Not sure this is a place I would like to visit again.

Brauhaus in the Köln-Düsseldorfer style, with two versions of Bönnsch, unfiltered (Trüb) and more or less filtered (Klar), plus Weizen and the occasional seasonal beer. Okay beers and food.

As German breweries go, they only offer 2-3 beers on tap - but this is normal.

My wife and I stumbled into this place was we wandered around the Bonn Christmas market stalls.
A December Saturday lunchtime, it was very busy but we found a small table and were served very swiftly by a young lady who brought us one normal beer and their christmas special brew.
Both beers came in the breweries strange glassware, a small, curved tumbler with ridges towards the rear for your fingers to sit between, the inner curve is for your thumb to go and allow you to pick the glass up. The beers were fresh and what I expected, the unfiltered standard brew was a little watery, the Christmas beer darker sweeter, but also a bit on the thin side. A Bonnsch is this brewers version of a Kolsch, so did wasn’t going to be a world breaking taste sensation in here.
The actual bar and place as a whole was inviting, clean and modern looking. The brewing equipment is at the rear encased in a glassed-off room again clean and modern looking.
The food looked good but didn’t check prices,so can’t comment, we were full of Christmas market Bratwursts and Pommes etc. etc.
Glad I’ve been; would I revisit, yes if in Bonn. Would I make a special journey to revisit? No. Normally only one beer and the style doesn’t ’Rock my Boat’.

Obviously not much more than a trendy urban pub with a patio, a large bar and a tube- like tap-room; quite mediocre Kölsch-like brews are served in very individual wry glasses! Worth a visit when You are in town, absolutely not worth a journey…

The birthplace of Beethoven, my German friends told me. When I asked which table he was born at, they clarified that he was born in Bonn, but not in this actual bar! But it’s a special place anyway. Medium sized place in a good location, outdoor seating in biergarten style. Did not try the food, but the flammkuchen and schnitzel get good reviews by the locals. Very international crowd, mostly UN staff. Waitstaff are friendly, efficient, and speak perfect English. The unfiltered kölsch was extremely interesting, and you can take away 1 or 2 liters of it. They have the most unique beer glasses I have seen in Germany. Worth a visit.
