Smallish bar located near central Edinburgh with an extensive bottled beer list and some beers on tap. Screen showing football and not too busy when visited mid-week.

A friendly, little, four-sided, German inspired, corner bar with some connection to the nearby Ninaís Mini Marked. I couldnít spot any cask ales but quite a few taps serving craft ales from Scottish microbreweries, like Tempest, and a few German weizbier. The bottled beer menu should be the best in town, again with emphasis on Scottish micros and German beers. Cozy, laidback atmosphere, right kind of British rock music and smiling welcoming service. The bar is located in what is now the epicenter for good beer in Edinburgh, within short walking distance to Cloisters, Nina, Hanging Bat and The Blue Blazer. We arrived at Brauhaus late on a Tuesday evening, the bar was busy, but we found two chairs, and stayed for a couple of hours (Visited 06.08.2013).

This was the first bar in Edinburgh with a truy interesting menu of beers. They used to have an enormous selection of internation beers but ultimately it boiled down to lagers from obscure nations. It upped ití game in the past year with lots more appealing brews from Mikkeller, De Molen, Struisse. Itís nae cheap but it was never gonna be. They show a lot of football on the TV which is good or bad depending on your perspective. The distibution of space is not great. Itís so small and I believe the seating could be more efficient. If itís a busy night, things can get over warm and a bit hellish. Nice if you get it to yourself though. Well worth a visit and it slots very nicely in to a bar crawl of the best pubs in Edinburgh.

Alright, so this place is dingy, not a place for a date, but the staff is very knowledgable about beer. This is a beer geek place with a crazy good selection of bottles, including American craft beer if youíre into that. Lots of De Molen. Could have more taps, but the bottle list is amazing.

Large Selection of Interational beers... but there all very standard ones, no Nogne, Mikkeller, Struise , Alesmith, etc.. No rates for me other than obscure lagers.. Nice addtion for the Common Man... dissapointing for the Conisuer.
UPDATE. The Selection here had imporved as the availability of the Big European names has improved in the Country. This can only be a great thing 66-> 76

Canít begin to think why this place is so popular. Basically a small sports bar, quite cramped, with nothing interesting on tap whatsoever. The bottle list is more impressive, though seriously overpriced. The bar tender also seemed more interested in his telephone conversation than serving me. Why waste your time here with the Hanging Bat just around the corner?

I like this place and have spent many happy evenings enjoying all manner of beers from every corner of the globe but Iím about to give it a very low rating because it is breaking a golden rule.
If a bar claims to be open to a particular time and I get turned away well before itís published closing time itís just not on. I donít care how good your beer selection is, if you claim to be open then you should be open full stop. Donít you undertstand that sometimes people will turn up at your door expecting to be served a beer if you claim to be open?
When I canít rely on a bar being open when I expect it to be, I move on. I recommend everyone else does the same. Damn, now I have to find a new hotel to stay in when Iím in Edinburgh. One with a bar next door that I can trust.

What an amazing place. Small and not very typical british.
I was there just after opening hour on a Thursday. Crowded after 30 minutes...
Not to many on tap but an amazing amount of bottles from all around The World.
Nice friendly and helpfull staff.
Placed a little bit outside the worst touristtrap places.
