This place resembles a Bavarian beer Disneyland in the north. They brew on site, and if you turn right after entering you can walk past two open fermenters, one full of krausen when we visited. The main room is much more atmospheric, and the slightly fake kitchiness is really OK. The overflow room to the right is more sparse, with bench seating. Food is mostly Bavarian, or tries to be, with a few local specialties. Two of their beers on tap - a helles is always on, and the second beer rotates monthly. They have a "bierfahrplan" that tells you which beer to expect when. Since they sold out of the January beer early, they offered us a dunkel as a gap filler - at a special price, since it was the last day of the beer month before they switched to a rotbier. Good place for groups, and worth visiting when they have a style that you like.
Visited on a february evening. The brewpub was full, loud music was playing and cheap disco-lights were supposed to create a party atmosphere. They had two of their beers available. The food I ordered was filling and excellent. The service was friendly and fast, despite the number of guests present.
Located in the old town of Spandau, the brewpub draws corowds of hungry and thirsty middle aged guests who want to enjoy a pint of the local brew (always two to choose from) and a portion of unpretentious but decent German food. Despite the considerable area - two storeys and several ’adjacent’ rooms - the staff are quick to serve and friendly. I had a really good Braumeisters Flammkuchen and small ampunts of the brewpub’s Helles and Rotbier. Decent, clean, cheap and nice. I will gladly come again.
Visited with the wife and two friends on a very cold Sunday early evening on 18th Jan 2014.
Nice looking place, used to be a military laundry according to the waiter. Neat, smart and spotless: very different to most of Berlin’s brew pubs being both bright and airy.
Waiter was fine, beer OK, but only three to choose from, two regulars and one seasonal: Potz-Blitz Bier on our visit.
I liked the set up though, the wife and friends not so much. Huge beer garden and semi-covered area unusable because it was so cold: visit in the summer if you can, be a whole lot better.
visted on mon 13th jen.. good place for being in berlin which is quite poor about beer and beer place ..pretty large and a mix between traditional and modern..beer quality in average in my opinion .. we had some wusters just for filling up but the menu looked like very traditional but goog .. i’ve been there but i think i’ll not come back again
Visited several times, first time just before taking part in Berlin Maraton 2009 :-) Lovely, cosy brewpub a bit away from the citycenter, but for sure worth going for. Outside is a lovely beergarden, and inside traditionel german brauhaus deko, rather spacy eventhough it doesn´t seems so. The food is traditionel german brauhaus food, but I haven´t eaten there yet, mayby next time, for sure I would like a revisit. Friendly staff and the beers were nice.
The best place in Berlin with the best beers in town. Nice sorroungins (ok, I love Spandau, but I’m writing honestly), the food is normal german brauhaus food with some Berliner special (boulette). Let’s come to beers: simply amazing. I really enjoyed the Havelbräu, and their schwarz is one of the best I had so far in Germany. A must-visit if you’re in Berlin. Don’t be afraid of the distance from city center, with just 30 minute s-bahn ride you are there. And their beer worth the detour! The best beergarten I’ve been after Spezialkeller and Wilde Rose in BAmberg
