84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 acertain (5) Seattle, Washington | July 13, 2006 I went here on my trip to Charlotte and was quite impressed. I told the proprietor that I was in town from Seattle and looking for some good brews, and he spent just the right amount of time pointing out a few things to me and then letting me wander. The selection was quite good, even speaking as somebody who lives 5 blocks from Bottleworks. The singles policy isn’t quite as good as Bottleworks (where you can buy any amount of anything), but they have a singles shelf, and if you buy a six-pack priced $8 or higher (basically all the micros), you can take out one bottle and replace it with one from the singles shelf. You can also just buy the singles for $1.50 each. I bought about $30 in beer, and after I paid, he asked me if I had a proper glass to drink from (since he knew I was visiting). I told him that my father-in-law had some nice wine glasses I was using, and he told me to pick out a glass on the house! I’m definitely going back whenever I’m in Charlotte. | 80 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 Ernest (126) Boulder, Colorado | May 30, 2006 First off, the people that run this place are awesome. Nice to a fault. Very friendly and talkative, and when we bought two cases of mixed stuff they gave luckygirl and me both a choice of any piece of glassware in the place! Pretty big selection, but should get even better in time as they expand the back cooler. Only gripe was that my bottle of Saison Dupont was badly skunked. A must-stop when in Charlotte. | 94 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 19/20 malty (2) North Carolina | October 12, 2005 A RE YOU KIDDING ME....best beer store in charlotte. in north carolina..o.k.i’ll say it in the south east... prove me wrong..owner micheal is both knowageable as courtious.. a rare thing in charlotte...selection has grown by leapsand bounds since beer laws turned for the better.. has room to grow..beats all compitition hands down ...e mail me if you come to charlotte. meet me at Brawleys&i’ll buy you a cold one...malty out... | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 billaime (1) Charlotte, North Carolina | October 13, 2004 For Charlotte, the best! | 86 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 ross (46) weddington, North Carolina | April 10, 2004| Updated February 15, 2007 i have been too critical on this store in previous reviews, and this is the last time i will change it. sometimes, the prices are too high, but sometimes thats just what you have to pay if you want to get it. yeah, hes got good deals on alot of things, other things, may be a little over priced, but whatever. this is the best store in charlotte to buy beer. period. go no where else in charlotte if you can only go to one store. mike is a really nice guy, and his parents kick ass too. |
