From the outside it looks like you might run into a big dude with tatoos that wants to kick your a$$ right as you walk in. Once you get in though you are met by a big, boisterous, fun loving, beer connoisseur that will be glad to help you find what you are looking for and relay some hilarious stories while doing it. His politics are right and his beer selection is awesome. Go by here if you are in town.

This place is nothing to look at but it is worth stopping in. It may not have the biggest selection or the best prices but it is where I shop.
The reason is that if the owner is there (most of the time) he is always helpful, makes good suggestions and is very knowledgeable.
I give the place a 15 on selection not because it has the most (maybee around 200) but simply that as he says "if it is worth having and available in Charlotte he has it".

Not a bad little place. They have all grades of beer. I was very happy to this this. The guy in there was a nice guy. Knows his stuff. Prices of some items were a bit questionable, but other than that, not a bad store at all.

Other customers called the guy working on both my visits Brawley. Anyway, he is awesome. He looked for beer for me that I couldn’t find on the shelves and provided plenty of information about some brews. He chatted politely and seems to have tried most everything there before ordering it. I tried to buy a porter, but he explained politely that it was the only one in the store because he had to sample it before making an order for it. To compensate, he gave me a free glass snifter. The beers are arranged very haphazardly, but the guy seems to know where everything is, so asking for help usually results in a pinpointed location. The cost of beers seemed about right (lower than in my area), but I live in TN where beer is way overpriced. Great selection, I visited two days in a row and different beer was available already.I love this place.

I love the selection and the staff is as helpful as they come. However, his rub is in his prices. Two or 3 dollars extra per beer may not mean much to other people but I’m a student. I think that I will sacrifice selection for price and hit the Total Wine down the street for most of my needs from now on.

Stopped in on a visit to Charlotte, looking for a few NC seasonals. Small but cozy atmosphere, kind of like a warehouse. Real nice selection of in-and out- of state beers, seasonals especially. Also a pretty nice selection of Belgians and foreign stuff. Very friendly and helpful staff too. Definitely worth the trip.

Visited on a recent trip to Charlotte. The owner, Mike, is pleasant and helpful, yet leaves you alone to browse if that’s what you want to do. Certainly the best selection of Belgians that I’ve seen in NC, and I’ve been to about every major beer store in the state. Sam’s in Durham probably has as many, and maybe City Beverage in Winston, bu tI son’t think either place has more than Brawley’s. Anyway, the place is small, cramped, and bit disorganized. I guess that adds character. Met Ross here, so he provided the tour, and made a number of recommendations. If you’re visitng Cahrlotte, I wouldn’t miss it.

Yes this place has the best selection in Charlotte hands down, and yes the service here is really great because Mike is a great guy. However, he is also a business man at heart and realizes he has the only store in Charlotte of this caliber so he charges a little more than he should. So if you don’t mind buying some overpriced beer than this is your place. Don’t get me wrong I love the store and the beer but I don’t love how my wallet feels after i go on a buying binge there. Cheers!

Brawley’s by far is the best place in Charlotte to buy beer. They are the first in the state of NC to get any of the specialty brews. They get all Dogfish, Allagash, Delirium, new Unibrew’s, ect products before anyone else in the state. This makes them the go to place. Unlike most package stores in NC; the owner, Michael Brawley, understands and has the knowledge of his brands in order to help you make the right descision. Not only is his selection vastly large enough to suit any beer geek, his pricing makes the trip well worth to Charlotte. Keep up the great work.
