80 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 NachlamSie (447) Tennessee | August 16, 2006 Build your own six packs with over 600 beers from which to chose. ’nuff said. | 70 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 notalush (279) Denver, Colorado | April 26, 2006 Kind of a dingy little place, but worth a stop - it’s a great place for an out-of-towner like me to pick up singles (there’s nothing worse than rolling into town for a few days and having to buy sixers of every single thing you want to try - a guy can only drink so much in a short time) - they don’t have anything that will blow you away, but they have pretty much every micro available in WI (and I did find a bomber of Alpha Klaus there just today) - their imports are lacking, but that isn’t why I’d come here anyway - the pricing policy is a little weird, though (each bottle is labeled with a price [per six pack] - you build your own personal six pack, and they then average the prices on every label in that pack together to come up with the price for your personalized sixer - if I were good at math I might be able to build each pack for optimal pricing, but I’m not, so I probably wound up paying a little more) - in short, if you want to build up your ratings while in Milwaukee, this is the place to come. | 78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 esjaygee (236) Oak Creek, Wisconsin | June 28, 2008| Updated January 24, 2009 Update - 01/24/09. Breeze Thru has moved next door into a larger, nicer store. Coolers now line the wall and shelves in the interior of the store have the liquor and whatnot.
At first glance, I thought this was just another hole-in-the-wall liquor store. Turns out it just looks like one. There’s not much room to maneuver here, but there’s pretty much beer around every corner. Pretty much a build your own six pack place. All of the bottles are stamped with the price of a six pack and you end up paying about 1/6th of that cost for a single bottle. There are sheets on every cooler stating what a single bottle costs. Prices seem reasonable and the selection is good. Just about everything is in coolers and extra stock is hanging out on top of the coolers. The variety is plentiful, especially on the domestic side. It’s right up there with Three Cellars in terms of variety of beer but the stock doesn’t rotate as well. There are a handful of offerings I haven’t seen elsewhere in Milwaukee. | 80 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 hopdog (222) Lansdale, Pennsylvania | July 14, 2005| Updated January 24, 2009 Tons of singles. I walked out with 3 cases of mixed singles to bring back to PA with. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 heemer77 (211) Urbandale, Iowa | October 17, 2005| Updated January 24, 2009 Went here because DavidP and MrFacto said it was a good place. They have a great selection of WI micros. The best singles selection I have seen in WI. Maybe not quality, but certainly in quantity. I got a lot of new ones at this location. I thought prices were fine for a bottle shop with lots of singles. Milwaukee folks are spoiled by Discount’s six pack prices. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 CheersMate (147) Fremont (Seattle), Washington | August 16, 2010| Updated January 24, 2009 Excellent place to pick up singles. It looks like a dumpy place, but I love a place that has ambiance by lacking it. The service consists of two dudes sitting behind a counter not giving a shit, which is awesome, because I don’t need your help when picking out beer. I’m sure they would have been more than helpful to answers questions. Anyways, the bottle selection was nice, and I didn’t have any problems finding things here that I didn’t see anywhere else. If you’re in Spillwaukee, pay this place a visit. The prices were fair, as they seemed to be pricing their beers as everyone else was. Great store, with a great selection. | 68 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 Cornfield (143) Oak Forest, Illinois | August 10, 2007| Updated January 24, 2009 If you’re nearby, stop in. It’s a dingey little place and no one really took notice of me until I was checking out, but they have a pretty decent selection of brews, most available as a part of their reasonably priced mix-n-match deal. Coming out of the Chicago area, I appreaciated that deal, given the vastly different distribution here. Even picked up a Belgian that I haven’t tried. I’ll be back. | 70 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 CaptainCougar (142) Columbia, Maryland | March 27, 2005| Updated January 24, 2009 This place is a hole in the wall and I couldn’t believe the great selection that they had for a place of that size. The bottom line is that this is by far the best place I’ve seen in the area to buy single bottles. If you’re looking to try a bunch of local stuff, don’t go to Discount Liquor and buy a six-pack of every different beer you want to try, just come here and try six different beers for $7.50. Milwaukee really needed a good place to buy singles, and this is it. Plus they had quite a few things that Discount does not, mostly local stuff, but they also had the whole Lost Cost line which I hadn’t seen anywhere in Wisconsin up to that point. The price is right and the selection rocks! | 60 AMBIANCE 1/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 MIBRomeo (141) Wisconsin | June 12, 2005| Updated January 24, 2009 not much to add.. ok selection although hard to find what you want and thing seem a bit on the high priced side. | 64 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 Ughsmash (138) Waukesha, Wisconsin | November 26, 2006| Updated January 24, 2009 Excellent selection of singles... nothing extraordinarily rare, but probably 500 to choose from. Everything comes in singles, which is by far the best thing going for this place. Not very aesthetically pleasing, but that’s OK. The first time I went there, I got a whole lot of crap from the owner when I was referencing my notebook when picking out beers. Good stop when you’re on the west side of Milwaukee. |
