78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 16/20 Nische (6) Saltsjö-Boo, Sweden | May 21, 2013 Friendly and helpful staff and a good vibe. Easy to find seats and great selection | 60 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 11/20 viktorvee (14) , England | April 12, 2013 I’m not completely sure about this place. It didn’t have a particularly warm or buzzy atmosphere.
The 5am saint I had was very nice, but served very cold, which subdued the flavours. I asked about sour beers and some 333ml bottles were £12! Then the next thing suggested was £8. I know these are specialist beers but you can buy gueuze or other sour beers in some places for £5.50 or so. The chap was very nice.
Decent for a couple of drinks but I wouldn’t want to base a whole evening around it. Also, Brewdog have their own branded magazine which, er, doesn’t really fit with their whole juvenile self-appointed rebel and iconoclast status and marketing which is really quite annoying. | 70 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 speakeasy63 (6) , | March 16, 2013 Brewdog,Camden and Mikkeller beers on tap with some bespoke beers.More a noisy and dark watering hole than a brewdog pub.Could be better. | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 13/20 Theydon_Bois (372) The ’Sham, England | February 25, 2013 Visited for the first time on the afternoon of Monday, 25th February, around 4pm for a few quick rates.
A triangular shaped ground floor room with wooden floors and tiled walls, bar to the left at the far end as you enter. A few stools around the bar but not so many as to get in the way.
The place was deserted, 3 other drinkers, I made 4.
As such service was great!
Downstairs room also but I didn’t venture there.
Standard BD range on tap, guest taps weren’t too exciting, William Bros amongst others.
Have put atmosphere as a 3 as no more than I’d expect at this time of the day and it suited me for a few quick rates.
I can imagine how packed with Shoreditch hipsters it probably gets on an evening!
Access to the tube isn’t great, 10-15 minutes walk from either Liverpool St or Bethnal Green (Central). Shoreditch High St (LOROL) is 4 or so minutes away. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 jackl (208) London, England | February 23, 2013 I’ve never really liked the physical space of this bar. It’s a bit too narrow and claustrophobic. Neither the now defunct Mason & Taylor nor their successor Brewdog Shoreditch have figured out how to make this a place where you want to sit and kill a few hours. I visited here for a few drinks late on a Saturday afternoon. The bar was quite crowded, but the staff seemed to handle the throngs of drinkers pretty well. The selection on tap was OK. They had some new Brewdog stuff on, nice. The guests weren’t particularly eye-popping. The bottles on offer seemed to have been decimated, though maybe it was a heavy week. Frankly, I’ve found the guest bottles at locations outside of London to be much better than the offerings at Camden or Shoreditch. I assume this is because the good stuff doesn’t get snapped up so quickly in the boonies. I didn’t try the food, but the hot dogs looked decent. The value’s debatable. Some of their stuff is well-priced, some isn’t. Overall, it’s a nice option if you’re in the area. The less than inviting layout makes it hard for me to imagine spending much time here. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 shoulderbroken (119) Tokyo, Japan | January 7, 2013 Prefer it to Camden, but I was there in the afternoon and it was empty, and I have got a bit tired of Camden. Similar prices but tap selection seemed a bit more interesting, but I think this is just coincidence. Kernels and Brodies on tap when I was there. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 teorn88 (42) London, England | January 3, 2013 A nice brand new location for BD. The place has a few more seats than Camden and cooks a different range of food, qhich is nice for a change. Same 12-15 taps and bottle selection. Friendly and helpful staff. Good vibe to it, correct level of light/musice to enjoy your beer. The letdown was that they stop cooking v. early (I think at 8pm on Sunday) and we missed out on the dinner, the plus was certainly the underdog downstairs, where beer cocktails are actually good. | 78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 Jimmythespoon (59) , Cyprus | December 21, 2012 Visited this place on a friday night. Seemed like more of a hipster bar than beer. It was super crowded and had security at the door. Also super noisy. Staff were pretty helpful and well informed though. The inside is quite minimalist and reminds me more of a electro bar. Seemed like the place was trying top hard to make craft beer hipster. Better places to visit in London if you truly just want to focus on the beer. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 itaste (37) , | December 7, 2012 This place needs more time to become perfect. I’ve been there just after the launch |
