But the only real potable beers there are some seasonals and Waterloo Dark. | 54 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 Zenwolf (52) Waterloo, Ontario | October 7, 2010 Decent location and a a good stop for a craft brew tourist. Thy are well past thier craft days and have moved into larger scale / lower quality brews. The place itself is nice with a larger then average retail store. That beign said its now a 5 minute walk from my new houise and I haven’t visited. | 80 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 RSBC (2) | August 16, 2010 Like Waterloo Dark. Surprising mellow taste and finish for such dark beer. | 62 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 JesseM (42) Ottawa, Ontario | June 6, 2009 Ahh, the old Brick Brewery, one of the original craft beer pioneers in Ontario. Too bad the stuff they make today is mediocre-at-best, and the company is currently better known for their peculiar conflicts and controversy’s with now former owner JR Brickman. Endless material here for comedy, but I guess I should just rate the place. Nice semi-old looking building with some character. Beer store is a small corner at the back of the building that’s basically just a lobby for the brewery itself. Friendly staff and ample product available all the time. Brewery offers somewhat interesting tours and a bar/lounge area for (primarily) university students to get ham............ well, you know. Hey at least they’re drinking OCB stuff. Not something to go far out of your way for, but if you’re in the area and the notoriously dubious service at the Huether has got you down, check it out (or just chill out in the public square, or go to Matter of Taste for great artisanal coffee, or Whole Lotta Gelotta for gellato, etc. it’s a nice area). |
