It is no frills but a decent place. Bartender was very friendly and hooked us up. It got insanely crowded but was alright when I first got there a little after noon,

A large beer house that is missing the point. Tokens and plastic cups, no tasters just make this a miss off the bat. The hard part about this review is the incredible one off beers that were superb. I am truly torn.

Surprisingly big brewery . Didnít take the tour, but visited for a few beers nevertheless . The atmosphere is a lot like a festival . Beers out of plastic cups ( questions rise about how I can respect a beer if the brewery itself doesnt respect it ?? ) , big spacious garden-style tables , Music from speakers sounding like a garden-fest as well . I kinda liked the atmosphere , but it comes across very big , commercial inspired . Not sure wether it is positive or negative to me . Its interesting nevertheless . Prices were to high , given the fact its the brewery itself , everything was 5 $ , specials even 10 . Also , you had to buy tokens , and even though there is no real service ( order at the bar ) they specifically asked tips as well . A special beer costs 12 $ likes that , which is simply too much to drink something at the source ... Comes across very touristic . Also , with a brewery that has so many beers, Youíd expect more than 8 beers to try ...

Went on an off day, got a tour from a friend working there, and hung out a bit with a tour and tasting that was going on. Great space, lots of great beers available, people working there know their stuff, and the tour guide for the other group was very informative and funny. Great place.

Long lines, you need to buy tokens in the front rather than just paying for a beer at the counter, and often overrun with obnoxious Brooklyn hipsters, but still a pretty fun place.

Hipsters are taking over the beer scene! Have always loved coming here, but recently it has been getting harder to deal with the crowd. Great beer, and a nice concept of purchasing wooden tokens for beer. Get in early, and donít even think of trying to get a table....

Brooklyn Brewery is located on N 11th in Brooklyn not too far from the river. The large brick building has multiple access points from outside.

The entrance for the brewery tours opens to a waiting area with a small merch booth and a view of pretty much the entire brewery. There is a large beer garden with picnic tables and bar adjacent to it. Interesting art installations in the beer garden, with a walk up bar that has a large chalkboard behind it listing all the beers. There is a cooler behind the bar as well with bottled offerings.

The brewery has 10 or 11 draught offerings, with a few standard Brooklyn beers like East IPA, Blast! and of course the Lager. Some more rare and seasonal stuff like Hammarby Syndrome, Sun Donít Shine, 1/2 Pils and 1/2 Ale during my visit. The beers were all above average.

Service at the merch booth, during the tour and at the bar was all good. These people are obviously passionate about the brand and everyone was friendly and answered questions. My colleague and I lucked out and got the last two openings for the tour we took, and I understand the place gets crazy during peak times but we didnít have to wait to use any of our tokens.

This place does not serve food to my knowledge.

All in all, brewery tours are pretty much the same everywhere but Brooklyn does a great job all around and I would definitely visit again on future visits to NYC.

Iím not sure why the ratings for Brooklyn Brewery are so low (if you read the reviews they are mostly positive). I realize not everyone likes the atmosphere...but hey...this is a brewery...and youíre drinking "in" the brewery! I remember coming here many yearís ago...when they were only open for tastings on a Friday night...there were literally no amenities...and the closest thing to a table was a piece of plywood on 2 saw horses! Yes it gets crowded (plan ahead/come early)...but thatís because their beers are so freakin good...especially the special beers often only available here. Garrett Oliver is a pioneer and leader in the craftbeer movement...I respect what heís accomplished and a visit here is time well spent for the true craft beer fan...and a bit of a pilgrimage...

It was worth leaving Manhatten for a few hours to visit here. The staff are great and the brewery tour was worth it.

Was there on a Saturday afternoon, and it was insane. I got lucky, line was only maybe 20 deep, but 5 mins later was running maybe 100 deep. My low-ish score for Service has nothing to do with the actual staff, they were fine, just the hassle of having to stand in line to buy tokens, then stand in line again to buy beer. And the token line is the same line to buy merch which sucks. Iím assuming the dual lineup for tokens is to get around a law of some kind, so maybe this isnít even anything Brooklyn can do about it directly, but at least have more staff to handle the lines. Anyway, still a cool spot loaded with people sitting at communal tables. Be in no rush to go back, but glad I went once.
