Little out o way, but an easy bus ride... very basic layout ... stone floors... wooden benches ... friendly enough ... and beers were pretty good... all round nice place and worth a visit

Nothing wrong with this as a brewery tap, I just don’t happen to rate the beers very highly.

You can’t miss this place because there’s a big windmill on top of the brewery. Came here on a Thursday and Friday night and the tables outside were very busy and a good atmosphere. Beers are of the cloudy, strong Belgian yeasty variety and pretty damn good. Inside they also have some lagers and macro beers so I’d recommend sticking to the brewpub beers. Waitress service outside and the staff inside we chatty and helpful. Snacks and food are also good and you can get a 5 pack of the beers to take home afterwards. Some of the best beers I had in Amsterdam.

A wonderful place a bit on the side from the main tourist area of Amsterdam. A lot of locals, always crowded. Came by on a Friday afternoon, patio is completely full. Very nice atmosphere, everything in sight, old building with rustic, brewery feel. Staff was perhaps a bit stand-offish for a stranger, but nice enough. Very low prices for Amsterdam. Only six taps, five regulars and one seasonal (IPA this time), all own beers. Some of their own beers in bottle as well. Very nice and worth a visit if you’re in town. Fairly easy to reach by a tram. Number ten goes by. Brewery tours are cheap and still include a beer, if you’re into that sort of thing.

The selection is limited and the quality varies from good to not so good, but when the place is packed it is fun to be there.

Popular brewpub in Amsterdam, off the beaten track in a neigbourhood that is interesting for beerlovers because the former brewery De Gekroonde Valk (Van Vollenhoven Stout) is nearby, the "crowned falcon" is still visible. The place itself is an easy brewpub with fair beer prices and expensive bar snacks. Both the beer and the bar snacks (regional cheeses and sausages) are great, this is a mustvisit for ratebeerians in Amsterdam.

Strange place, old bathing house. I taste 6 permanent and 1 seasonal. Good service. no many things to see around.

(Visited 11/2011): After seeing this place during a bus tour we decided to walk to it from the Hard Rock, which turned out to be over 2 miles. It is located off Zeeburgerstraat near the bridges and right on the water, easily found thanks to the windmill. Outside there are communal picnic tables. Inside there is one relatively large room with an L-shaped bar in the rear of the space where the throngs of people line up to get their beer. There is a board listing the beers available, plus a chalkboard showing what seasonal they have. As for the beers, they have around 6 available including the aforementioned seasonal. On my visit I tried the ’tIJB ok and and ’t IJ IJndejaars, both of which are above average. Service was about as good as it could be considering the mass of people trying to get beer and disorganized system for getting your drinks. We did not have any food on the visit. Overall this place is worth seeking out for someone wanting to mesh with the locals (very, very closely) and have a craft beer from Amsterdam.

Only beers of themselves, but their beers ar going strong for more than 25 years. Location is a old bathinghouse and there’s no music.
