Great tap selection. Good food. Not busy but bar service was good. Definitely good value for the selection which was heavy on barley wines -a week after a barley wine event.

Visited here for the 3rd time on November 2nd. There’s not a ton left to say about the place, but on my visit, the tap list skewed towards out of state rather than WA beers and that was disappointing. My wife enjoyed her mussels - which took her back to Belgium - and though I enjoyed the stoofvles, I found it savory rather than traditionally sweet. Still tasty, but not of the transporting variety. Definitely on the pricier side, and it seems like a place to visit when they have a festival rather than on a Saturday when it’s rather low key with slow service.

Definitely set up as the premier craft beer bar in the city, but it never got very crowded and always seemed a bit dead :/ We went here three different times and had decent service. For being some of the only people in the bar you’d think we’d get the royal treatment. They excel though at fries and dipping sauces. The other food I wasn’t wild about. My partner’s lamb burger was phenomenal. My mussels were very disappointing: uncooked bok choy, no salt, uncooked carrot slices, not a flavorful curry broth. Thankfully that dish was a special and I hope it never comes back. Bottle list is extensive, but focuses 5/8ths on Belgian stuff. We did see some older Firestone Walker anniversary, and FW PNC at $30; which was a solid price. Did see one Upright bottle, The Clash, that I hadn’t had before. It wasn’t so great, but was priced lower. Draft list here was extensive with what looks like some gig with Shelton Brothers scoring them a few kegs of De Ranke XXX Bitter, which was awesome. The tap list was split up by State and Country, and surprisingly there were only 10 or so taps dedicated to local WA state beers, which was disappointing. Overall, it’s an awesome bar but for food stick to burger and fries and for beer you will find a better selection of local beers almost anywhere. It’s the obscure Belgian, Danish, Norwegian stuff that is exclusive. Bottle list is large, found some California beers that I can’t even find living in California. They don’t do sampler flights, which was annoying -___-

Stoked to have made it to this Mecca. Truly nothing to look at from the outside. Inside, it’s way more cozy. Stone walls, quaint tables, small booths and a stage. Seats upstairs that peer down on the long bar below. The wall filled with taps, bottles peaking out from behind. Extensive. Service was attentive but a bit absent-minded. Overall, a really good experience.

Not world class in my opinion. Bottle list was pretty standard. There were nice bottles but nothing too extravagant. The tap list was nice but obviously focused on west coast beers It was wet hop season when I went so as someone who doesn’t really like IPAs, that was a let down. Very sterile looking bar and prices seemed pretty high. Their fries were good though.

Totally impressed with the diversity of beers on tap and in bottles at Brouwer’s. I spent a couple of hours drinking sours and saisons on tap here. Surprisingly, and to staff too, it was extremely quiet for a Thursday afternoon. Fine by me, as I could just cruise, tasting some amazing US crafted beer. Nice layout and ’soft’ interior decor. At the time I felt a little underwhelmed with the overall vibe, but now looking back on my experience, I’d so be here often if I was living in Seattle. So many good beers on offer and staff are characterful and clearly love their beer. Great facilities. Shame I didn’t try the food. Must visit, not that you really need to be told again.

I spent some magnificient hours in that beer geek heaven. The legendary mezzanine gives it an open, inviting, unpretentious, yet stylish atmosphere. The beer selection is outstanding, among the world’s very best. Besides the sheer number of bottles and taps, their quality is tough to match, equivalent to places like Chuchkey in DC for instance where you could spend days buying and drinking different beers you feel like drinking. Service was entirely Professional during my visit, constantly renewing the water supply, giving little samples, chatting just enough, courteous yet Professional. One of the greatest tragédies of my tragedy-less life is not having eaten at Brouwer’s where I’m told the food is really good for a beer bar. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and when I return to Seattle, I’d dedicate at least 50% of my beer time to Brouwer’s. This was really difficult last time because they have the annoying common weakness of not accepting children under 21.

Visited three times in three days on my first trip to Washington. The primary reason for visiting was to attend the Hard Liver fest and because Dr Bill hooked it up with his place at the back room / industry tasting.

The first time was my first night in Seattle. We did a trip up north through the city and had dinner at Brouwers. The bottle list is insane. They had the anniversary bottles back to the 5th. The 6th anniversary quad is still damn good. The food was expensive but excellent. The service was friendly as well.

The second time was Saturday morning during the Hard Liver fest. It took a while to get into the fest since we got there late and there was a line down the street. Despite that I had a great time once inside. There were several dozen barleywines on tap that I hadn’t tried before and a few that I had tried but were ones that I was curious to try aged. It seems that if there is one style that everyone in the north west makes it’s barleywine. The people inside were all very nice despite being packed in. Random people from the tables were walking around offering pours from their bottles of some interesting stuff like the original vintage of the Mirror Mirror. A couple of the more popular kegs kicked early like the first vintage of the bourbon Angels Share. The service was very friendly.

The third visit was Sunday of the festival. I didn’t really experience the service and what normal visitors get to experience but the Matt’s really showed us a great time. My friend and I were the only non-industry people there among plenty of brewers and distributors but we did show up with a case of expensive beer (Isabelle, Veritas, old FW anniversaries, etc) so they didn’t mind too much. Turns out that I had met the Matt’s at RBSG in San Diego a few years back. All the people at that tasting showed us around and gave us free beer when visiting their breweries afterwards. Really really nice group of people.
