This store has a good selection although I don’t know that it is any better than Green’s in Atlanta. There will be some things from the Carolinas here that won’t be found in GA, KY or TN but some of the finds may be $1or 2 higher than those locations. When asked, they pointed me right to their only Berliner Weisee so they know their styles and inventory. They were closed on Sat of Brewgrass and had sold out of some items I wanted by the time I got there on Sunday. I found the sold out items for a few dollars less in an out of the way Homebrew/beer/wine store on other side of town. Still worth a stop.

Amazing beer store. It’s like a specialty boutique for premium craft beer. They don’t sell wine, nor liquor, nor do they sell the crap u see on tv. The very best beer store I’ve ever seem.

World class service and selection. Beer tastings every other Thursday. What’s not to love? This could very well be beer heaven. Jay and Julie’s passion and dedication to American, Belgian and world craft beer are infectious and I’m grateful to live in a city that houses this fantastic establishment.

Small place, but the beers were just crammed in. Loads of cool imports and a solid selection of North Carolina, regional, and national micros. I bought a case worth of beer, and they gave me a free pint glass. I would consider it to be one of the better bottle shops I’ve visited, and a must go on the way out of town.

Small place with a hippie/hipster vibe when you walk in. Service was nice, but he was in a rush to leave (we got there right at 4pm, the closing time on a sunday). Selection was pretty solid; I was impressed because of the stuff we can’t get down in Florida, but I’m sure if I was local nothing would blow me away. Pre-filled growlers from a couple breweries is a cool idea, but they aren’t the only ones in town doing that. Prices are a little higher than some other places in town, but not too terribly outrageous. Pretty solid bottle shop overall.

Good store, but a little over rated. Very small and cramped inside. Lots of local southern beers and good selection of Belgians. A few more rare beers like Nebraska and Cascade. Overall a good store but it didn’t blow me away like I thought it might.

I was in Asheville for 4 days and went to Bruisin’ Ales twice. The first trip their selection was obviously depleted, but the next trip they had just got a huge shipment in and they hadn’t even got it on the shelves yet. Needless to say I enjoyed my second trip quite a bit more as far as choices go. One negative is that this place is easily $1 to $3 more per bomber or six pack then most other places we stopped in North Carolina. Maybe it has to do with the real estate though. The owners were great and gave us a free pour of a hard to get (and delicious) beer they weren’t even advertising as tapped yet, so that was nice!

Great downtown location. Probably rough if you had to drive there though. Smaller than I expected, but they packed a lot in, in a very organized way. Thought the prices were a bit on the high side. The staff was pretty helpful, but was in and out rather quickly. A must stop if downtown, but Vintner was better all around.

A good beer store with a decent selection. They had refrigerated growlers from local breweries. A large selection of Belgians as well. But other than that, I don’t really get all of the hype. The parking sucks, but you honestly can’t blame them for that. However, you can fault them for high prices on several selections and a staff that seems to either ignore you or talk down to you. And I think the 800+ bottles is being generous considering the idea that some members on this site probably have larger cellars than this entire building. With all that said, it’s still a better than average beer store regardless of the somewhat inflated ratings. If I were ever nearby again, I wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to stop in, but I don’t think I would make a special trip out of my way to revisit.

Fantastic selection of Belgian beers as well as local brews. The focus here is on quality and large bottles. Will definitely come back to Asheville and this will be one of my first stops. update: I’ve visited the store several more times since my original review and it still amazes. It’s a small store in Downtown Asheville but they get maximum out of their space. For me this os where my craft beer journey started As you enter under the windows is where they keep canned beer, cider and gluten free beer. The shelf in the front corner is glassware. The shelves along the left wall are Belgian and Belgian beer. The shelves opposite the Belgian wall are English, Scottish, and German. The back left corner is Mikeller, Evil Twin, and other European Craft. The back bookshelves are National craft. As are the bookshelves on the right wall. Opposite those are local , state, and regional craft. One endcapmis mead the other is newest latest although they have some new stuff on their bar. Oh yeah I forgot the coolers next to the bar that have local growlers and some sixers chilled. Plus the cabinet near the entrance tends to be Dieu du ciel. They now have a parking lot next door for only a dollar an hour which is pretty good for parking in a downtown area. I think Bruisn Ales sets a standard for awesomeness that every bottle shop in America seeks to emulate.

Parking. Parking sucks here - like you have to find street parking (or pay, which I refuse to do when only going to one place) and you might have to walk several blocks. When/if you do get inside, and you go to search for beers, they have WIFI, but arrogantly refuse to give out the password. What they have is decent, but not all that special - I see the same stuff in every store in Raleigh. And I REALLY don’t know where that 800+ count is coming from. It’s tiny and they don’t have nearly that many beers out. Finally, I really wish they’d take an hour or two one afternoon and actually label what/where things are.
