Excellent boozer - multi-roomed, warm, with nice furniture and a positive feeling. Good range of local cask ales. Very convenient for the station too.

Step outside Derby station and ignore the cluster of pubs directly opposite you. Instead, turn right and walk the extra couple of hundred yards down the road - itís worth that little effort. This is a large place, spread over 4 adjoining rooms. Itís big, uncluttered and rough around the edges, with bare stone floors in some areas and faded carpets in others. But the bar has a huge choice of ales and ciders. I counted 14. Being a brewpub thereís always a big selection of Brunswick and other local brews but the range is not just confined to the local area - nationally respected brewers like Arbor and Dark Star sometimes feature here. I often slip in for a swift half if I accidentally/deliberately miss my connecting train.

Decent place with a good range of different beer. Just went there before a football match. This place was a lot better than the match...

I went here last night in search of new beers and with 16 hand-pulls on I couldnít quite believe what Iíd walked into. Superb atmosphere, friendly staff, fairly cheap, Iíve been in other good pubs in Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool and paid nearly £3 a pint and more, its around £2.50 a pint on average in here. Decent selection of ales, and fast service considering how packed it was. This is highly recommended visit on a trip to Derby

Service is average. Like an old personís home in here when I came. Brunswick beerís arenít great, but the Timmy Taylor Landlord was in stunning condition.

Visited this place for an hour or so an a Thursday evening so it was a bit quiet, certainly an íold man pubí. Itís the only place Iíve seen serving ale in 1920ís style dimpled tankards, pleasant enough though, with a very antiquated feel. They seem to serve just their own beers (no bad thing) and a few macro lagers and such. Only tried one of their beers but it was pretty good. Would be interesting to visit again and try a few.

An excellent brewpub, producing some interesting beers, regularly including a few darker and stronger examples. Nice multi-roomed building. I hear the food is quite good as well. Very close to the railway station and the Alexandra Hotel. With around 6 guest ales from various breweries and around 6 of their onw, itís a place where finding new and interesting beers will be very easy indeed and comfortable, welcoming enough to spend a few hours. Excellent.

Everything a backstreet English Pub should be hardly detectable from the outside warm and welcoming inside lots of space a fine array of beers, including their own. Service can be slow at times, but there is lots of atmosphere to absorb. This is definitely my favorite Derby pub.
