62 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 Drewcifer81 (12) Lancaster, Pennsylvania | June 16, 2011 Ambiance has gone downhill - used to be somewhat unique, now it’s an average frat-bar feel. Service was decent, a little confusing sometimes as servers seemed to come and go wherever and whenever they felt.
Selection was decent, although would’ve rather had another house brew than Guinness on tap. Some of the beers seemed to have been on for a bit - no reason to have your winter ale still on in June.
Food was decent, nothing to write home about. Value-wise, the food was expensive but the beer was quite affordable.
Overall, it was decent, but has definitely gone downhill over the last two years. The beers seem less inspired and they’re not varying things. Solid beers, but not something that is a must-go. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 15/20 Mostoboy (17) , Spain | April 30, 2011 Nice brewpub where chill-out, relax and enjoy its beers. | 56 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 9/20 DerWeg (35) Toronto, Ontario | November 6, 2010 Cozy joint perched aloft over the quaint old hill street of Crescent in downtown Montreal. Truly warm and friendly, offering live entertainment later in the evening. I did not eat here, but some locals and visitors made for interesting chat - beer is the easiest way to open conversation LOL. Barside service great. I can’t trash the beer outright but it had, for me several faults, and I tried about five in one visit. Just seems like rushed or unfinished beer, perhaps not that well-structured. Simpler the style, better it was. Selection was squarely average for a small place in the general lower Montreal area. Sitting on the fence for value because some beers were rough... but the beer was VERY inexpensive, and I might go back some time around ten in the evening for some music and give a few more brews a chance. COZY place and NICE bar server (her name was Bam.) | 62 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 10/20 kruddov (6) Quebec | February 4, 2010 Okay bar to go hang out with friends. The beer was actually pretty enjoyable (better than the bud I was drinking before I got there anyway). At first the place looked pretty full so we sat in what was essentially a hallway.. but then we realized there was a basement so we went down and it was quite nice. Good time all in all. | 50 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 1/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 10/20 godofsky (15) Montréal, Quebec | December 30, 2009 ambiance is ok if you like a quiet place where you are left alone. service is great because there’s never that many people inside, especially downstairs. beer is worse than horrible, except for the blackout stout. the IPA deserves to be poured down the sewers, and the chocolate stout tastes like poisoned water. if you are a concordia student who like molson and labatt, this is the place for you! if you are a beer geek, go elsewhere. | 52 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 11/20 mnurda (61) Winnipeg, Manitoba | August 8, 2009 Went late ona Saturday night. Extremely hot and noisy. Sat outside on the patio and enjoyed an IPA. | 56 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 10/20 robinvboyer (69) Sturgeon Falls, Ontario | July 13, 2009 Nice looking bar, a little small, I was glad that i got there and it wasn’t too busy. The beers were pretty pedestrian for the Montreal brewpub scene. I wanted to try lots of their beers but i wont only able to buy half pints which wasnt bad, but i dont think i deserved the "are you nuts?" look when i asked about sampler size glasses so i could try all their beers. | 52 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 10/20 JoeMcPhee (465) Toronto, ON, Ontario | July 5, 2009 Stopped by this place while we were simply looking for a place for a quick one. Sort of a shitty, run down appearance inside. Lots of styles of beer on tap, but the three beers I had were uniformly poor. There is a lot of stuff up on their board that isn’t available... which always annoys the hell out of me. An oxidized IPA, an underattenuated Belgian ale and a watery scotch ale. Live music out front with a quieter back room. It’s not really a bad place to hang out, but I certainly wouldn’t go in looking for quality brew. WORST BREWPUB I KNOW... | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 nbutler11 (301) Phoenix, Arizona | March 26, 2009| Updated February 23, 2010 Had a great time here while in Montreal. This place is huge! It starts out looking like a basement at your friends house, then winds up three more levels high with different music going and bars on each floor. Solid selection of beers, but nothing amazing. Very much for the college crowd. |
