Decent place for a cheap burger. The RYE IPA was fantastic. Everything else tasted like a-typical don’t piss anyone off kind of beer. They also had tons of different macro crap for sale. Food was ok, nothing spectacular, but it was very affordable.

Visited here as a part of a 9-brewery weekend tour of the St. Louis beer scene. Interesting small brewpub/restaurant with a wild west type atmosphere. There were around 6 beers on tap when we visited. All the beers were pretty weak. This was the worst brewery in our 9-brewery weekend. I wouldn’t recommend stopping here, but if you decide to, go next door and get Pappy’s BBQ.

An unpretentious and airy brewpub with Old West decor and big picture windows. Requisite bison head is mounted over the bar. Food did not wow us but a couple of highlights were thin, crispy house-made potato chips and plump mussels well prepared. Beers were decent drinkers, but later in the summer found the exceptional Rye IPA. That one ought to be in the pub every day.

(Visited 11/2010): Buffalo Brewing is located on the south side of St. Louis, on the corner of Olive and Compton next to Pappy’s. There is some street parking around, and a lot behind the building.
The interior is one big room so it has an open feel. The bar is on the right side, with a large buffalo head mounted behind it, and it offers a partial view of the brewing equipment. Table seating takes up the remainder of the space. Aside from the animal head, the motif is salmon colored with a western theme.
Buffalo has 5 beers on tap and offers samples of all. On my visit they had Buffalo Drool, British Pale Ale, Red, Rye IPA and a Hefe. All the beers are average to above average. I didn’t notice any bottled beers and am not sure if they serve any.
Service was decent on a weekday afternoon. The bartender was knowledgeable about the beers they carry and friendly enough.
I did not have any food on this visit.
Overall this is a good spot to hit that is not too far from Six Row. Worth checking out in a STL beer tour.

Another place in midtown alley STL. Kinda of a corny old west theme on the inside. They had 6 of thier own beers on tap and the 2 that I had were on the better than decent side. I did not have food and it would be hard to order anything here when pappy’s BBQ is right next door. There is a nice covered paito out front for people watching and catching whiffs from the smoker at pappy’s.

A brewpub walking distance from SLU- why oh why did this place open after I graduated and left town? Anyway, I’m back now and will be coming here a lot. Came here for the first time when I saw that Buffalo Head would be on cask and the new Lupulin was released. Both were tasty, as were the other two beers I had before these were tapped. The food is good, and a very good value compared to other local brewpubs. The servers were super friendly and the place was well-staffed. The atmosphere is good because of the friendly people all around; the room itself is a little too new to have a ton of character. Nice shaded patio with porch in front. Right next door to the awesome Pappy’s Smokehouse, and proximity to Chaifetz Arena is a huge plus.
