The Bukowski Tavern in Back Bay has a good range of taps with mostly local-ish beers, usually including one on cask. Itís a long, dark, narrow place overlooking the Mass. Pike. It feels a bit like a shack thatís been thrown together and Iíve never found it very convivial as it can get very crowded. On the plus side, it certainly doesnít have a corporate feel and the music has usually been to my taste, if rather too loud.

This is a divey place with a great selection of local beers. When I was there they had 21 beers on tap and 17 were local. If youíre a tourist (like me) looking for some beer brewed in MA and surrounding states, I would stop here first. I think this place is under-rated on Ratebeer. Definitely worth a visit.

Visited this place twice while visiting Boston for the ACBF. Located near Prudential Center/Copley Center and the hotels surrounding. Be warned... CASH ONLY!This place is no nonsense.
Food is burgers, sandwiches, wings, etc and pretty damn good. Everything after 11 is $5.95 and burgers 11-6 M-F are like $3.
Tap selection was mostly local beers. Had a few cask ales available too. 99 Bottle available too from an ice chest that runs the legnth of the bar. My wife had a Victory Golden Monkey that had an expiration date in 2014, so Iíd assume it was pretty fresh.
Atmosphere was mixed between people going to and from Red Sox games and some hipsters. Music was americana which I could have done with out.
Prices were good for Boston.

Probably the best beer bar in Boston proper and an old school standby at that. The vibe is great and itís the right kind of dirty. Itís tiny and can get crowded but the selection though not worldclass is comforting for any beer nerd. There will be something you love or havenít had. Will if its crowded it can be hard to get a seat the bartenders have always been pro when Iíve been there.

Super small bar on the side of a parking garage but it really works for them. Laid back bar that was packed at lunch as people ate, we didnít. Good selection of beers that are mostly from the Boston area or other New England breweries. Service was very good. I could definitely see myself being a regular here if I lived up there.

Another tiny little boston pub whose charm sets it apart. Very laid back and comfy...nothing fancy here! Service is friendly and swift...I can comment on food as I didnít eat or see the menu but the draft and bottle selection embraces local/regional and extends beyond with some nice craft stuff. My audacity of hops bomber was pricey but I was happy to find it. Id go back given the chance.

This is a real beer bar. Unpretentious, no effort to be upscale. Great burgers. Decent set of taps, mostly local and regional microbrews. Huge bottle selection. I was there twice during a recent visit. Both times had really good service. Downside was that the music was too loud - had to shout to be heard.

Stopped here after Xmas shopping for a few. Bartender was very nice and knew her stuff. Selection was above average...lots on tap but alot that most beer geeks have had before. Two or three that were new/ obscure. Bar itself is pretty funky, long and narrow, a couple tvís, unfortunately this place is stuck in no-mans land around the corner from the convention center. Good place if your in the city, much better than the rest of the spots on Boylston.

This place is tiny. I mean TINY. It looks like a little shack attached to a parking garage. Thank god for GPS or I probably would have driven right by it. Their food has a reputation of being good. I tried their Mac & Cheese, and there was a hair in it. So I donít know about that one. Their selection is pretty dark good though for the amount of taps that they have. Service was beer friendly.
