Previous reviews have it summed up well. Quality local/regional craft taps. Occasional surprise. Decent selection of bottles with a few limited/rare gems. Cool bar. Worth a stop.

I had never been to this place until Milwaukee Beer Week and itís quickly moved itís way up the ladder to one of my go to places in Milwaukee for a beer. In the heart of Bay View and a bit livelier than Sugar Maple or Palm. Plenty of naked pin-up art and a pool table and board games in back but nary a TV to be found. They donít have as many tap lines as the other places in town but they use them well with lots of one-offs and stuff like Mikkeler and Bruery that I donít see around town on tap often. The service was good on each visit. A decent bottle list compliments the nice tap last as well.

Not sure why this is rated so low? Awesome place and they always have a great selection of taps and we have always had great service.

Burnhearts seems to be an up-and-coming beer place in Milwaukee. They have a nice tap list that includes a good mix of American craft and imports. They occasionally get some rarities before anyone else. The staff have been very friendly and generally helpful the times that I have been there. The vibe is hipster, but itís doesnít feel "too cool" (from a non-hipsters perspective). The bathrooms are unbelievably tiny. Iíve added it to the rotation of places I frequent, which also includes Sugar Maple and Romans.

Although itís nothing that special, Burnhearts is another above average bar that the Bayview neighborhood gets to call its own. Burnheartsí atmosphere was nice with murals and interesting hipster-kitsch on the walls. However it was quite hot in there (no AC), there was a fair amount of smoke, and in the long cramped space that Burnhearts occupies, there wasnít much room to spread out or feel a breeze... So itís not for everyone. Bottle and tap selection were above average and as BeerBelcher mentioned they had Wisconsinís two newest entrants (Stone and Magic Hat) amidst a few other Midwest favorites. They also proudly promote the fact that they serve 60ís recipe Schlitz. Overall, Burnhearts wasnít bad, and Iíll probably stop in again (if for no other reason than to break up the cycle of trips to Romansí and the Sugar Maple), but if youíre just in town for one night, there are far better bars a few blocks away.

Iíve had great luck recently stepping into bars in Milwaukee and discovering surprisingly good beer selections. My visit to Burnhearts was not entirely random however, in that they were participating with other Bayview bars in a Stone brewing release party (Stone having just hit WI). This place is a dark corner tap gone hipster and a bit upscale. I believe all the taps were either craft or import, and they had a reasonably large bottle selection on the board. I had a Magic Hat. The place was dim, even though it was still light outside, and very hot. Bartendress was young and not too beer savvy, but trying her best. Clientele was a young hipster crowd in what is clearly a rebounding neighborhood. Felt a lot like Comet Cafe probably felt a few years ago. Bayview is a great beer neighborhood, with Romanís, Sugar Maple, and Palm Tavern nearby on Kinnickinic. Iím happy to throw this place into the rotation of bars I visit.
