I was a bit disappointed by this pub. We ordered a Fischer rauch and they brang us the last bottle they have. Unfortunately, it was expired. We had to ask to chaneg it, but since it was the last one I couldn’t try it. Afterall it doesn’t worth a detour from Altstadt. What you can find in the city center id good enough to satisfy your needs. Unless you are so fool to come to Bamberg looking for a belgian beer...

What a great place! Big selection of great german beers on tap and in bottles. Service is super friendly. The realxed atmosphere out in the biergarten made me feel like I was drinking beers in an old friends backyard. Food was OK. Dead cheap.

The manager handpicks the beers that he believes are good examples of the many styles they offer. Plus there is beer from the Weyermann maltsters micro brewery nearby. The bottled Imperial IPA defies traditional German brewing and the manger is upset only Americans and Brits buy it, locals cannot belive it! I feel sorry for him. But he is trying to educate them! That’s the key, he tries very hard and is worth supporting. Plus is a welcome break from hoards of non-beer tourists!

Two blocks out of town from the train station. An extraordinary find, justifying a taxi fare if you are lost. The Weyermann selection, unusually large range from Upper Franconia and the select list of Belgian and other beers are unquestionably the stars but the food is good enough to keep you there it makes a change from the great but grandstanding bars in the centre.

Very nice German bar with a lot of local specialities. Friendly staff. The food is also ok!

Many great beers here, but the place lacks both charm and ambiance. Almost empty at a saturday night is not a good sign. Overrated because of the good selection? Well worth a visit if you are nearby though.

Visited March 2012. Only managed to get here once in my two week Bamberg stay. It’s a bit out of the way if you’re staying in the old town. Characterful, multilevel pub. Good selection of beer including a small but well chosen selection of Belgian beer. I had the Monchsambacher Lager on draught and then three rauch beers including the excellent Weyermann Schlotfegerla, which was porter-like. jonas from Ratebeer saw me scribbling notes and introduced himself and we shared a Weyermanns Tripel which seemed to be infected and tasted of sour coconuts and milk. I had the small Schnitzel Weiner Art and it was good.

The first beer garten I visited on my beer trip to Bamberg. Knowledgeble personal when it comes to beer. Unfortunantly was the Weyerman beer I tried sour. They had a selection of beer from outside of Germany that is really unusuall. Food was OK and the beer meny was extensive.

It is a little expensive but very ambitious bar. Friendly service, very cosy.

fantastic franconia-focused beer bar on the east side of bamberg. multiple interesting taps, many from small producers. fresh bottles, wide selection, knowledgeable owner. best place to drink a wide variety of new beer while in bamberg.
