I honestly think this is one of the best bars in the world. It’s the biggest beer menu I’ve ever seen in Germany. They’ve got fresh beers from around Germany, lambics, and lots of Belgium’s. Good service. The ONLY downside it its location. I missed it the first time thinking I was going the wrong way. I’m glad I made another trip back. It’s kind of hard to find via various maps. They have the full run of Weyermans beers. If you can’t make it to the Weyermans store, make a trip here. I think it’s the only place to get them. It was the only stop in Bamberg I could find some fresh Maibock…in May. After about 3 beers, I asked about carryout and it was available. I put together a big list including some Weyermans and Andescher. Well, the waiter brought the list to Gerhard I guess. From the list, Gerhard must have known I was a beer traveler. He brought the beers over himself and apologized for not having 1 in stock. I probably talked beer with Gerhard for 30 minutes. He was very genuine and great to speak with. It sort of made my trip and helped me understand the Bamberg beer scene. He was extremely gracious with the pricing of my carryout beers giving me a very nice discount. I really appreciate the service and the discount that wasn’t needed. Honestly….its probably the best beer bar in Germany and one of the best in the world. It flies really under the radar. I wish I would have stopped here earlier in my trip so I could make multiple stops.

Perhaps the best bar in Bamberg, in wich I tasted a pair of great smoked beer. Informal atmosphere and decent food.

Not very special atmosphere, but the people were nice and the food good. Selection is ok, with a few things offered on tap that you can’t get in Bamberg usually, but I was there during Sandkerwa, so most were already at the fest. Good place for a break from the typical Franconia beerhall.

Great place to close your evening with Rochefort 8 after a day full of rauchbiers, pils, etc. As mentioned previoulsy, closest thing to a Beer bar" in Bamberg. New and clan, but in a good way. Worth the trek out past the station.

Nice beer bar with a quite nice "inside" garden, besides a school building. Has quite a nice selection of beers (about 15-20 I hadn’t had when visiting). Service depended a bit on who was doing the waiting, but overall quite fast once they managed to note your glass was empty. Their pasta was quite filling for the stomach, so well worth spending some time both eating and drinking.

Fantastic place to have a beer and eat. I took my wife here as it is only 5 minutes from the house. I have to say I was drawn by the Hoopi but the food really made the visit. Went during lunch and the house special was being eaten by everyone but us. Reminds me of an English pub in the biergarten. Bonus for being so close to home!

Bamberg’s "beer bar", but really most of the beers are the type of beers you see in export markets. Not bad as a change of pace, though. I thought their menu was a little more interesting than the typical Franken kuche. Service can be spotty on the back patio, if they forget you’re there. Otherwise, a nice place and probably worth a stop if you don’t have time to explore the country breweries, as you can pick off a few of those beers here.
