Great little bar in central Amsterdam, there seems to be a good mix of locals and tourists. There is a stab at banter in here even if it does get a little lost on us. I was lucky and got a seat at the bar, which made the tasting range a little easier, you get one at a time in here rather than a tray. The barman knows his stuff, the feel is brown cafe and the trip to the loo is hazardous. Great place.

Visited on a Monday afternoon/evening. Very small bar, but we were almost alone so it was quiet and there was plenty of seating available. I can imagine that it can get crowded pretty quickly though. Beautiful interior with a lot of wooden decorations. Small tap list with some interesting locals like Oedipus and Jopen. Bottle selection is almost only regular Belgians. Prices aren’t bad for Amsterdam and considering that you get a pretty high fill (too bad for tickers...). A nice place if not too crowded that I would visit on a semi regular basis if I was a local.

Great beer bar with fantastic selection of Dutch and Belgian beers. Decent tap list with about 20 drafts, excellent bottle selection and huge selection of Trappist or Abbey beers. Tried their Gollem IPA, nice beer. Bartenders were very knowledgeable, and friendly.

This is a perfect beer joint. Small, filled with happy beer drinking people and a long list of good beers. Wish I lived closer and could visit more frequent. Because of the lay-out, little had to get a beer, that the only negative.

Nice small cafe in Amsterdam. Large selection of beers. Nice ambiance, the feeling of a real cafe.

Visited March 2013. Very cosy split level bar. Appropriate music level and style. Great belgian beer list of mostly wellknown beers. Wooden tables and chairs, which were packed at the time of our visist. And a cat!
Pour yourself a great Belgian beer and listen to "Jim Croce - I got a name". Then you can feel the atmosphere! :-) Cheers

This place is very often packed, I finally managed to get a seat on my third visit. It isn’t all that surprising considering it is a very plesant bar to sit at. Well located in center Amsterdam, easy to get to from many areas. The ambiance is quite enjoyable, laid back very vintage bier café. Didn’t see/try any food unfortunately. The selection was soso - nice varied selection of Belgian beer bottles, but nothing out of the ordinary: all the usual trappists, karmeliet, chouffe, Saison Dupont and Boon lambics. All good stuff, but just nothing needing to go to this particular place. The draught list was also a bit boring, not many dutch micros, lots of belgian macros. Overall I’d say this place is definitely a cool hangout, is worth it if you’re staying a few days in Amsterdam, but as a beer geek you don’t need to sweat it to try this place out. Amsterdam has way better to offer.

I had my fist westvletern at this place. Amazingly cozy pub, with a big selection of belgian beers. Great ambiance but can get very crowded since it’s small.
