64 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 Fin (368) Merton, Oxfordshire, England, England | October 10, 2012 We visited here on Saturday 29th September 2012, in fact we sort of stumbled across it as we were just locking our cycles up right next to it before realising that this was one of the places we intended going to today. The pub is situated on a busy junction of canals and shopping streets, though when I say busy I mean predominantly with pedestrians and bikes. There were a few interesting beers on tap and a decent bottled beer list. Whilst we sat outside and also ate (a simple but tasty paninni each) I did venture inside, it was a small, pleasant cafe. However whilst it was not terribly busy Loz noticed a couple near us were seemingly missed/ignored for service and eventually got up and left, another gentleman close by also got tired of waiting and went inside, which we also did. Despite this slight negative, it was a pleasant bar in an interesting area. Closeish by is Bert’s Bierhaus. | 64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 sebletitje (228) Enghien, Belgium | August 17, 2012 Right along the canal at the end of Oudgracht.
Not really a craft beer spot, techno like music inside, hipster crowd, not much in terms of atmosphere beside the nice area and proximity to sit by the water. Decent beer selection and bottle with once again a limited Dutch selection with the usual Amstel and big German brands. One tap stands out, the monthly ABT alliance selection.
The guy at the bar was keen on chatting about beers and making recommendations. Rest of the staff was composed of students.
If in the area make sure to stop by Kaserij Stalenhoef right up Twijnstraat, the best cheese shop in town. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 13/20 erickok (87) Tours, France | July 7, 2012 Roomy outside terrace and a very decent beer selection; both a very nice recipe as well as (too) well known. Give it a bit of sun and this place is packed with Weizen drinkers. Tap list is decent and primarily Belgian, with Brigant, St. Feullien Saison, Hopus and Weihenstephaner. Not much to complain. Bottle list is also nice and offers the odd American beer. Some simple snacks available. Prices are a tat bit high, but if you can find a chair in the sun here it is still worth visiting. With all those packed Utrecht beer bars one wonders why there aren’t more... | 64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 4/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 Boudicca (374) London, England | October 12, 2011 Ledig Erf is on a busy square at the edge of the old part of the city, where the old canal meets the city fortifications. It has some attractive art deco stained glass windows and is a bit surreal. We sat under what looked like a huge pale green mushroom and had a bite to eat. The food is fairly limited but we were hungry and ordered toasted sandwiches which were a bit pricey and rather ordinary.
They have 7 taps and about 30 bottles, all listed on a peg board with the lettering on little blocks of wood like children’s building bricks and difficult to read. There wasn’t anything particularly special unless you count the “Longneck”, chosen by Simon as he’d never heard of it and thought it might be interesting, but it turned out to be a standard Heineken. It provided some amusement, anyway.

It was raining heavily so I didn’t use the terrace. Small bar, sober interior, a bit dull atmosphere, not very extensive beer list. Had a Christoffel Blond from tap for a decent price. OK place I guess, nothing to write home about either. | 64 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 jaspe007 (8) Utrecht/Wageningen, Netherlands | November 1, 2010 Very nice if the sun shines and you can find a spot. No need to go here for the selection, which is limited. However, on a warm summer evening I only need a Weihenstephaner, so no biggy. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Joop (10) , Netherlands | October 2, 2010 Nice, sort of ’cosy place’. Small. Not a special selection of beers, but you can drink a decent Belgian one. Terras was inviting. Prices oké. | 50 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 9/20 MiP (19) Sønderborg, Denmark | October 5, 2009 Good atmosphere, but a quite limited selection of beers. | 64 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 13/20 dutchbeerpages (48) Wilnis, Netherlands | September 27, 2009 Nicely located next to a canal and a square. Has a nice outside patio. Average selection and no special ones. Strangely enough only 6 beers on tap, and no local beers, even though Utrecht has de Leckere and more. Enough space during the day, seem to be a lot of students.
Paid 3,20 for a tapped Zeezuiper | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 NoiZe (76) Amersfoort, Netherlands | September 30, 2008 Nice place to have a beer. Not too special brews, only the monthly T.A.P. draft is interesting. Still nice to visit when going to Bert’s Bierhuis beershop. When crowded it gets too fuill. |
