60 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 3fourths (1082) Boulder, Colorado | November 4, 2012 Busy mixed-crowd brewpub experience on State Street. About a dozen Capital taps with a couple of seasonals. Small samples available. Beer quality was decent but nothing seemed that exciting and there’s wasn’t much to keep me hunkered down for a session. | 60 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 3/10 OVERALL 12/20 islay (13) Minneapolis, Minnesota | July 20, 2012 Visited on 7-8-12. Consumed Capital Square Series Imperial Dopplebock on tap. 12 beers on tap, all of which are available in stores. I wish there was some unique stuff available only at the bar. Shotgun-style layout. Full bar (including liquor). Very nice, wood physical bar. Small, cozy, nice, classy room with nice touches. Welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. 3 or the 4 widescreen HDTVs were displaying images in stretch mode, which is not good. Price is on the high side (my beer was $7). The beer was served too cold. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 esjaygee (236) Oak Creek, Wisconsin | August 18, 2011 This is a tied house that serves Capital Brewery beer. Situated right off the Capital building, this is a place I’d frequent for lunch and a pint if I were working there. It’s a smaller place with a full menu and they had 10 house beers on tap, plus Eternal Flame right from the fermenter. Brewmaster Kirby Nelson was in house talking to the guests, but I didn’t get a chance to tell him that it was Autumnal Fire that got my hooked on craft beer many moons ago. The service was good, the food was tasty and they even had a one-off and a retired beer on tap. |
