Neat place. Decent location. Their beers are OK. Itís definitely not the first or second place Iíd choose to go to to get beer. But anyway, food is good, and they brew their own beer. Plus itís downtown at the Metro Center METRO station. So itís convenient.

3/10/15 - Good food, great free pretzels, service hit or miss (sometimes excellent, sometimes poor - depends on the luck of the draw). Crowded during happy hour, folks file out afterward. Beer isnít very good.

A huge place downtown that was packed when I went around 7. They have a few average beers on tap that are adequate though nothing crazy. The pale ales are pretty decent. Clientele is a little too much on the business banker side for my liking. Service is good, and the free pretzels are a nice touch.

Its always a little of a bummer when you canít "sample" all of the beers at brewpubs. The keep most of their seasonals as full pours only. The pub itself is downtown surrounded by office buildings and caters to the sports crowd. The beers are pretty decent.

A nice brewpub in downtown DC (although technically not a brewpub as the beer is brewed elsewhere). A nice open restaurant, lots of seating, lots of TVs. They had around 8 taps on. The tap list definitely included some interesting beers - when I was there, I got to try a barrel aged imperial stout, Belgian golden ale with peaches, and low-alcohol IPA and all were excellent. I didnít have any of the food, but mostly it is standard pub fare. I thought the beers were great, they definitely have some interesting seasonals and are worth a stop.

Visited July 2011.

First beer place visited in DC and (I think) my first beers sampled made in DC though these may not count as DC-=brewed anymore. This place is large with plenty of tables surrounding a bar. I sat at the bar and ordered the flight. This was just before the dinner rush so service was prompt and fairly friendly. Most of the beers were regular styles but I did get to try a keller pils which was pretty good. The rest were OK. Itís an easy stop from the subway so I would probably stop in for some ticks the next time in DC but thatís about it. Canít comment on the food. The prices were OK.

Had a couple of beers at the downtown location. The beer was fair and the service was adequate. I prefer the District Chophouse & Brewery which is only a short walk from here.

If you have to go here, Iíd assume you are going for the TVs and because it is in the middle of the day. The food is not great, nor is the beer (Capitol City Beer), but the bar is kind of cool, and itís nice to watch sports on their many TVs if you donít have anywhere else to go...

(US backlog Sep 2012) Fled here mid-afternoon on the run for the near-depeopled Downtown DCís office desert, to land in a matching industrial-style steel-clad brewpub franchise. Other tourists and office workers gathering for happy hour. Service was young, perky and clueless as to the beers on tap. Sampled 4 which mostly tasted like an imitation of popular craft styles, as if hastily underbrewed to chase them down the 100+ beer pipeline. If their Pale Ride Ale comes closest to their redeeming signature brew, this place is probably best visited as an instant airy refuge/watering hole/sports monitoring central from the stuffy DC brick jungle than for any of their beers. Decent usual brewpub snacks served without too much panache.

First visited way back in 2006 and have popped in on a couple of other occasions over the years (but not recently). Comfortable enough place but nothing very distintive about it. Feel was a bit lacking in atmosphere. I preferred the old Capitol Hill location, which had the benefit of some architectural merit, but has now closed I understand. Beers were fine but not exceptional - 8 taps I think. Iíve not eaten here, just sat and the bar and had a drink or two. Although I wouldnít call it unmissable I guess most people who are visiting DC for the first time are going to want to visit as itís a decent enough brewpub (although Iím not sure the beers are actually brewed here any more) and the other remaining branch is a bit out of the way.
