The best selection of beer in Norway with almost 500 different beers. The best part of cardinal, exept for the selection, is that the people behind the bar often know what they are talking about. They also change the beer that is on two of the taps. Usually different microbrew-beers like Nøgne Ø and Haandbryggeriet for example.
My favorite place!

The Cardinal pub is by far the best beer pub in Stavanger, and most-likely one of the best in Norway (definitely better than any pub I’d been to in Oslo). In a land of Strongbow, Heineken, Guinness and Tou, this bar is not only much needed but a savior! With a bottle selection into the hundreds--and not just a long menu, all the beers are in stock--you may sit for the length of a beer just deciding what you’ll be drinking.
The ambiance is great, but as somebody who is 23, just note that they don’t allow anybody under 24 in on the weekends; manager’s rule. They don’t follow this under-24 rule on slow days like monday, tuesday, wednesday, etc. I’ve definitely spent more than 30 US dollars on a single beer here too many times than I’d like to count, but it is Norway.
Beer suggestions: Mikeller Beer Geek Breakfast; Nøgne Ø Dark Horizon; Nøgne Ø #100 Imperial IPA

English style interior and an impressing selection of bottled beers and plenty to choose from no tap. Well packed, even no a Wednesday evening. Nice, not to laud background music.

My regular pub and favourite place to go out. With 17 beers on tap and 388 beers altogether they have the greatest selection of beers in Norway by far. And they keep expanding their beer cellar.
English pub interior over 2 floors. Tend to get really packed in the weekends. From time to time there are some casks in from Nøgne Ø and yesterday they even had a local brew - an unfiltered, unpasteurized bock from Lervig Aktiebryggeri.

A bar that shows a real passion for beer as the best drink in the world. Beers from all over the world are displayed in their beer book, together with some useful background info on beers and brewers.

I have looked forward to this visit for some time, and I was not at all diappointed. Wide selection, and a fantastic beer book describing the current selection. Good atmosphere and friendly and knowledgeable staff. Best chips ever tasted. On the negative, a few of the beers were over the best before date, and the beer was a bit expensive (still worth it though). We got to taste 16 new beers, not to bad for a night. I will get back here next time I am in Stavanger.

Without doubt the best beer pub in Norway. They are working hard to keep as many beers available in stock, 304 different beers in stock October 2007. For some beers, this is the only place in Norway to find them. Every single beer is presented in a regularly updated booklet with helpful and informative information. The staff is friendly and updated on beer. If I should pick something on the negative side, I have to mention that the beers are served to cold. This is an understandable problem and may be solved trough planning you’re procurements some time in advance.
