Carolina Beer Co. is a good reason to schedule a layover in the Charlotte airport. They have several locally made craft beers. The bartenders will give you a taste if you ask and they are friendly and efficient. The bar is small, but they have ample table space from which to drink your beer and order food if you want. To be fair, I did not eat their food and my rating is based only on how it looked (typical restaurant bar grub.) It is an airport bar at the core, but this one is open and a little more comfortable than most. The brews are expensive (~$6 for a pint) but you are in the airport. If you find yourself on layover in Charlotte, head on over to the D gates to grab a great local beer. (I liked the OMB Copper the best.)

I kept waiting for this place to open when I was passing through Charlotte and it finally did this spring. Only 4 house taps and about the same number of their own bottles, but food is good and service friendly. First time I was there at about 11 AM and I was the only one in the place, but mostly depends on the flight schedules in Concourse D.

Stopped at the place during a layover at the Charlotte Airport. I was very surprised to see this place in an airport. Has a small bar where they serve 4-5 of the Carolina brews on tap with many other bottles in the cooler. They also have a nice sandwich bar where they make the sandwiches to order. Waitress had quite a southern draw and the place was pretty crowded at 9:00 in the morning. I had a sampler of 4 of the cottnwood beers for $8. Very small place overall and of course itís because itís in the airport. At first I sat at the bar but the waitress insisted I sit at a table. Not too bad and a decent place for ratebeer guys to go sample some local brews if they are passing thru.

Good for an airport brewpub. Had four of their own on tap and about a half dozen of their bottles. The waitresses seemed to know what they were talking about - even heard the words high gravity mentioned when describing their Frostbite. Food is a notch above the typical Airport grub fare of overpriced sandwiches etc. Had Lime Infused Grilled Chicken and Brie - very good. Seek out if you have an hour to kill in Charlotte. Decent wide ranging selection of their brews - something to please all palates.

If youíre flight arrives or leaves from Terminal D at CDI, then this location is extremely convenient. They carry four of the Cottonwood and Carolina lines of beers on tap with an additional two taps used up on Bud and Bud Light. They do offer some of their seasonals and, depending on the season, some of their rarities. The food is not bad, but certainly not great and there are only eleven items offered on the menu. Currently, they share an indoor patio with The Great American Bagel Bakery which offers a host of deli-style sandwiches... on bagels, of course. The atmosphere is fairly quiet on this particular Sunday and the service is fast and friendly. They donít seem to mind my taking up a table and electrical outlet during my six hour layover... but Iíve outlasted two shifts of waitresses, tipped well and kept the bartender busy. A welcomed sight when I stepped off the plane. Spendy, but itís an airport and no more expensive than beer bars in NYC, Baltimore or D.C... regardless of location. They do have two, medium-sized flat screen televisions.

When I went here, it was during game 7 of the Stanley Cup playoffs. So, living only 45 minutes away from Boston, I was able to find some Bostonianís and had a good time livening up the crowd as only true Mass-holeís can do. That made the ambiance score a little higher than I probably would have given it on a normal day. The selection was decent, but the price, which is normal in Airports, was a little out of control. Glad to have tried it though. It will leave a good memory in my mind.

If youíre in Terminal D, this is where you should saddle up. Foothills and other locals on tap. Nothing special food or beer-wise, but thankful there was something decent to drink while in the airport.

An airport bar at the end of Terminal D. Beer is pricy, but thatís par for the course at an airport. Service is friendly, but a little slow. They had a decent but limited selection of craft NC beers along with macros and liquor. Nothing special, but worth a stop if you want a beer while you wait.

Typical airport bar. Four taps, but they also carry a wide assortment of the bottles, which arenít listed until the back of the menu. The experience isnít anything special save for the fact youíre at the airport and actually have a decent beer in your hand.

Swung by before a flight. Had 5 or 6 taps total, couple of cottonwoods and Carolina Gold - rounded out with macros. Otherwise, open airport type location. I noticed that many of these beers were available at most airport locations.
