68 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 11/20 t0rin0 (184) La Verne, California | March 25, 2013 I’ve been to this place several times now. The second time was pretty disapointing as they had just reopened (cant remember why they were closed) and only had a handful of beers on tap. They normally have a dozen taps, most of which range from meh to alright. I do appreciate them experimenting and trying to do something interesting but it’s really just a glorified homebrew operation. I guess now that they’ve been open a few years I should go back and see if they’ve imnproved. | 62 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 10/20 womencantsail (390) Garbage Grove, California | February 20, 2013 On the north end of the city, less than a mile from downtown. The tasting room is a small place inside the actual brewery with a nice little deck/patio to sit out on. Twelve beers available to try, but almost all of them were below average. They do bottle a number of their beers, too. Service from the one male bartender (also seemed to be a brewer/helper) was okay, but a bit neurotic. The two girls that were working the bar were much more personable. | 60 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 IrishBoy (100) Bakersfield, California | July 17, 2012 Small local brewery which I have gone to several times. Decent berrs but nothing very impressive compared to the other locals in the area. | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 SamGamgee (182) down the whirlpool, California | February 13, 2012 These guys are a mix of brew-on-premise and microbrewery with a tasting room. You can try samples of all of their beers on tap and buy bottles to go as well. Most of their beers are solid and they do a wide range of styles at any given time. I’ve never had anything mind-blowing, but also nothing I couldn’t drink. They have been having some licensing issues lately with regards to serving beer so it’s worth checking with them to see what’s going on if you plan on stopping by. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 EdKing (101) London, England | March 5, 2011 Nice little stopover just to the north of the town centre towards the motels area. Shop and brewery all in one place. As you come in the doors you see the coppers and fermenters where all the brewing takes place.
Didn’t have time for a tour and as I was driving didn’t taste so just got some take-outs. Lovely beers and well worth dropping by for. Wish I’d had more time to chat to the guy there. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 thewheelman (16) Maine | June 3, 2010 Funky local brewer in SLO. It’s just north of downtown, and should be on your SLO beer tour. They serve their own brews on draft, and most styles also come in 22oz bombers. |
