Went with two family members there was no spots at bar so we waited to grab a small.round table near front door. Was a bit.loud not that I was bothered by that. Did not seem to be tourists there at the time. Washington Caps game was.on and most were cheering for the local. Beer list was much better than my local bars on the Jersey Shore. Bartender knew my family members by name from memory. Tried hard to service us though we were not at bar. Food choices seemed odd but somehow worked. I would return. ( I did return. We were seared in a nice section downstairs that used to be an alley way. Stone floors with brick building walls. Had nice soft echo of surrounding voices. Was half price burger night so the place was packed. Waiter tried hard but 2 of the 6 orders came missing part of the order. He blamed it on the back being very busy because of the half price burger night. I would rather pay full price and get my order right. Mac and cheese side was good but small. Burger done right except it was missing ordered mushrooms. I would return but not on half price burger night.)

An okay pub down near the Potomac River in Old Town. Dark interior. Beer selection isnít super great, but itís not a horrible place to check out if youíre not feeling Pizzeria Paradiso.

This is one of two area Chadwickís, there is another in Georgetown, both of which situated amid major tourist clusterings; as for this one, it can be found around the corner from where King Street meets the murky Potomac River. Chadwicks is housed in a multi-story building and offers a sports bar ambience that is supplemented with many TVs, generic rock music, fake brick decor, cutesy paraphernalia and weathered that support doughy tourists as they swill their yellow fizz water. While Chadwicks offers no real reason to go out of oneís way, it does provide a decent beer menu in this section of town. (Of course, Pizzeria Paradiso is a few blocks up King Street; Rustico, a long haul to North Alexandria.) In any case, a meal here would earn me some airline miles Ö why not? The beer selection consists of about several taps with several dozens of bottled brews at the ready. One (bottled) choice to recommend is the Port City Porter, a deliciously malty elixir that is brewed a few miles away. The food menu was basic one that fed hungry tourists and contained wide varieties of fish, meat and poultry, with the expected choice of salads, entrees and desserts. As an ardent devotee of bangers and mash, I went away happy, stumbling off while wiping sausage crumbs from my slobbering maw. The one major issue was the service; nothing extraordinarily inefficient; just the usual situation in which the server spends time chatting up the regulars while the rest of us are going hungry/thirsty. In any case, this continues to remain a major pet peeve with this humble correspondent. As for pricing; one must remember that you are in Tourist Central, so there will not be much in the way of deals.
