Place is very compact, but contains a few notable gems. Relatively big Belgian selection. Actually has a shelf with discounted old stuff, so they seem to do a relatively good job with clearing out the stale stuff. Prices didnít seem too outrageous for DC, though Iíll continue to do most of my shopping in the cheaper suburbs unless Iím in the neighborhood.

Quite nice selection and quite many bottles in cold. Only 3 different DC Brau cans... I donít know how many DC beers there are in bottles and cans but I thought there was more. Helpful staff.

This place is out of the way but itís one of the best Iíve encountered in the DC area. Has a lot of selection, and nearly everything can be bought in singles. Belgians are expensive, and have a few interesting country ticks. Some older seasonal stuff is always on sale for cheap. Very friendly staff. Probably better than some of the places in proper DC but not necessarily worth the trip out unless you are looking for something to do. Itís close to the metro stop at least.

As I walked in I was greeted by friendly elderly gentlemen, and the ambiance was cozy with lots of wood shelves; gave it a real home vibe. I was specifically looking for a DC Brau porter, and they didnít have any out, but in no time the owner called out the stock number to an employee and he fetched it from their underground storage. I then told him some states I havenít rated beer from and he promptly pointed me in the right direction. Selection was great, and who knows all the extra beers kept underneath the store. The 3 singles I bought were only $2ish each and the bomber was $8ish. I would no doubt stop by here again if Iím ever in the DC area!

I wasnít all that impressed by this store, frankly. Pretty good selection, but prices are $1-2 higher than Whole Foods P Street and Conn. Ave Wine and Liquors, and I didnít see anything I hadnít seen in the city before. Fine if youíre up in that neck of the woods, but otherwise donít bother.

Small shop up in Cehvy Chase, DC. Not really metro accessible. I would describe the ambiance as ícreepyí and probably the staff as well, who also are generally worthless. Reasonable selection with a few oddities but prices are stupid expensive. If you find yourself here for some reason, I would suggest walking down the street to Magruderís instead.

If the Brickskeller was the bar of my early craft beer days, this was the store. A thin, cramped upper NW joint, the relatively crowded beer area towards the cash registers in the back is an impressive one. Donít be fooled: the magic kingdom is below decks and youíd be suprised at the stuff that may be stashed down in the basement. As many folks have noted, Larry is the dude to go to for queries and advice. Some other staff members can be a bit prickly, but itís part of the vibe of the place. Terrific selection of Belgians in particular but a ridiculous overall assortment of foreign and domestic micros, always with specials and seasonals well represented.
