A stylish, modern beer bar located in central Brussels. We made the slight mistake of going on a Friday night, which on the upside was good for live music, but it was just far too busy! One of the best things about the bar were the friendly and knowledgeable staff. There is a great range of draft beer, including 6 lambic options. The bottled beer list is awesome (lots of rare lambics), but very pricey! Well worth a visit but it is definitely a bit hyped-up.

This is the best beer bar I have ever been to. I own a beer bar and I wish we could do things this well! The staff is knowledgable and friendly. The selection is exquisite. Keep in mind that it’s the quality rather than the size of selection in a bar that impresses me but Moeder does both. That’s very hard to achieve. The food was light country fare which was the perfect accompaniment to the beer....pates, homemade cheeses and quiche.
We were there at a slow time and based on a discussion with the owner they get pretty busy on weekend nights. Don’t expect to get a lot of the staffs attention during those busy times...the staff knows their selection but the way staffing is done in Europe they can not possibly have time to chat about every selection during a crush.
They do not serve ordinary beers like Jupiter or in Bev products....only the best...small breweries are represented with a specialization on lambics and gueuzes. The owner of Cantillon drinks here and that’s about the best recommendation a bar can have.

There are always some good lambics on draught and I was impressed with the foreign beer selection (lots of Mikkeller and some good Italian breweries).
Quite often, there are special festivals organised around a theme, brewery or country, which is a great time to visit. More crowded and more beer geeks, but great atmosphere and special brews on offer.

Nice place. Nice seats. LIve band was playing, but that was more ennoying than entertaining... way too loud. But still, service is ok, selection is excellent... You can spend a nice evening there enjoying a few rare beers!
Update: most of the time when you go there, it’s really quiet. Not many people visit this bar. But still, must do for every beer geek.

The beer selection at Chez Moeder was curated, rather than piled up to see how much beer can fit on a menu. The esoteric nature of the beer selection was not limited to just the lambics...there were a lot of other different stuff. I was very impressed with the attentiveness, friendliness, and knowlege of the youngish staff. That the place was a well designed contemporary bar, and not a slavish imitation of some kitsch vision of quaintness, was very welcome. I really enjoyed this place.

Not as awesome as the first pub, but it’s a real beer temple! They have more than 40 taps, an amazing Cantillon list and some guests beer from all over Europe!

This place is awesome, and one of the better locations located truly in the center of Brussels. Everything from Cantillon Kriek, Faro, Zwanze 10, Jandrain saisons, and Drie Fonteinen Kriek on tap for an absurd 3 euro price. Also bought a bottle of Zwanze 09, which was very expensive, but worth it. Very cool atmosphere, and a huge bottle selection. Gotta check it out if you’re in Brussels.

We have a couple of well trodden paths when passing through Brussels Midi (Zuid) station. On 30 March and 10 April this year we developed a new route to take in the Moeder Lambic, which I understand is a relatively recent arrival in central Brussels and the sister bar to a highly rated place of the same name further out in the suburbs.
This one is situated off a wide pavement, where there is outside seating under a canopy and large square parasols. Inside has a very trendy feel – it’s modern and minimalistic - a long narrow room with low, limed oak booths fixed at right angles to the bare brick wall.
The highlight, however, is the tremendous range of regular and guest draft beers including, on this occasion, Cuvee de Ranke, which is an all time favourite of mine so it was a delight to find it here on tap and on my birthday!
There isn’t a wide choice of food but they serve artistically arranged salads and tasty cheese and meat platters on stylish square white plates with sour dough bread. Their own recipe soft cheese dish, which comes as part of a cheese plate, is to be recommended.
