The sleeker of the two locations, fontainas is elegant and egalitarian in its decor and ambiance: I donít know anyone for whom the experience at a bar is specifically enhanced by beer signage, while the opposite must often be true. The focus here is balanced between an excellent, diverse tap list and a very deep bottle list; while the prices for rare gueze, etc., are possibly inordinately high,I thought prices on the whole were quite fair. For me, fresh de la senne beer on tap is a perfection rarely surpassed, and even based solely on this the moeder lambic bars stood alone in my experience in Brussels.

Located on a beautiful circle in the heart of Brussels, I approached Moeder Lambic Fontainas on a sunny day and there were loads of people enjoying the sun out on the patio. I took a seat at the bar and ordered what turned out to be a really great cheese and meat plate along with a Zwanze 2013 which was served is the traditional basket. The ambiance inside was everything I could have asked for. It seemed newly renovated but has an old soul. I could not recommend this place highly enough. It seems like a place you could enjoy a rare beer while bringing non beer-geek friends and both parties would have a great time.

Great place and great service too. they know their beers and can advise you. Love it. Simple food, but great selection of beers. Did not even make it to the bottles. Cantillon brewers stepped in for a beer before going home.

First day here in Brussels. I didnít really plan to go there but an invisible force seemed to attrack me :) I loved the ambiance (bar, music, staff) with this atmosphere that lets you breath (high ceiling, sober clean design). Friendly staff with knowledge. Great selection and value. I ate dried sausage with my first beer (gueuze tilquin, draught) and a vegetarian quiche with the second one (lambic blend tilquin) : simple but delicious. Overall, I definitely come back !!

If thereís one bar I always return to when I make my annual visits to Brussels, itís the Moeder Lambic on Place Fontainas. The draft beer menu is always excellent, usually with a number of sour ales from Cantillon (on my last visit: Mamouche, Lambic and Iris Grand Cru!) in addition to more than a dozen craft or family breweries, such as Val-Dieu and Brasserie de la Senne. They also often have some non-Belgian beers on draft, such as BFM from Switzerland and The Kernel from England. In addition to the excellent draft beer selection the bar has an amazing beer cellar, with lots and lots of old and exciting stuff - ranging from Belgian sours to amazing bottles from the likes of Brasserie Dupont and Glazen Toren. I prefer to get there early as the music can get a bit loud at night, especially when they have live music or DJs on Fridays and Saturdays. Last visited: 2014-04-25

A great place with plenty of rooms. Very knowledgeable staff. The standard selection is not spectacular but there are plenty of interesting guest beers. Donít miss this place while in Brussels.

Got there because of its "ratebeer rating", but per my opinion definitely not the best in Brussels. Croudy, noisy place which does not allows any service at all. Wide beer choice though - multi tap and a lot of bottles.
Not only Belgium beers.

Great place! Itís perhaps a little sterile when you look at it, but warm and welcoming. Excellent selection of beers which are very well treated. The food is only a cheese and meat platter, but that is absolutely delicious. Good music, too. A mix of styles, but quality stuff. I mean both the beer and the music. Very highly recommended.
