It’s about the best setting in Brussels that you could ask for, centrally located but not swarming with tourists, the front terrace provides sidewalk seating to give you a comprehensive view of Place Fontainas, and the beer selection is easily the best in Brussels, and arguably the best in the world. That’s not something I say lightly, but understand on my visit they were pouring multiple Cantillons from cask, offered a half-dozen 4.0+ level hoppy golden Belgian ales (De la Senne, De Ranke, Jandrain), and Moeder is the only place known to carry the stellar bottle-conditioned Thiriez Jean Chris Nomad (a 4.5% blonde / saison made with myrrh.) If that was not enough, just prior to our visit they were featuring Gänstaller Bräu (Zoigl, Golden Smoked Zoigl and Affumicator, I shit you not). If your eyes are wider than just sour beer you can find a lot of depth in the beer menu and enjoy world class Belgian beer without shelling out hundreds of euros. I don’t throw out a lot of 100/100 scores, and it’s not that I consider a place scoring 100 to be "perfect", but rather I consider it the top of the game. Few places, if any, do good beer better than Moeder.

Been here many times now, and I think this placedeserves a full new review. This is ( at the moment ) probably one of the best places - qualitywise - I’ve ever seen . I don’t fully agree on the way they pour beers from tap ( guess thats a bartender / beergeek thing ) but at least they do know their basics and far more . Beer is always top quality , as they cool the kegs ( not the lines , who are thus also shorter - a system I’ve only seen here and in Gollem Antwerp ) Which is the best quality for kegs on the market today . The beerlist might not be whalish on tap , but they have very damn nice basics, and always a couple of special ones . Bottles are only big ones to share, and are OK to a bit expensive ( same goes for prices on tap ) But I’m happy to pay a bit more if I at least get awesome quality . Always something fun to drink , next to the rediculously delicious Cantillon Sausages . The service is strongly depending . I had 1 bad service once , I had a couple of mediocer services, But I also had some very damn nice service ( a guy named Thomas takes the lead as the best service I had so far ! ) the only downside is that this place is very ’cool’ looking and thus not cosy at all ... Its a real geek-out place, rather than a place to sit and enjoy your drink peacefully . What they do , they do the best way imaginable , but I miss that specific something extra, that makes a bar have a soul ... Rating this higher than the original 82 score now .

un plaisir de parler avec les seveurs compétents et disponibles, le bar est superbement bien agencé et situé dans Bruxelles, la sélection de bière et les animations sont une référence en Europe

Date of visit, 6th October 14. Rainy Monday night and the place was pretty quiet, but not dead. Liked the modern style, the choice was good, plenty of Cantillon, De Ranke, and other styles, including IPA and Stout, pretty much all Belgian, but good choices. I could have stayed longer and for more than the 4 beers and nice platter of meats and cheese, had it not been for the annoying, important work meeting I had the next day :) the service was good and the staff knowledgable and happy to advise. Good place and a pure contrast to the hectic Delirium Cafe

Much more modern and larger place than I expected and certinaly modern in appeal too. Not only are a decent amount of sours on tap, the whole list is impressive. For the modern beer geek there’s guest taps, mostly European craft imports and stuff I haven’t seen elsewhere. THe place was fairly full but certianly not too busy because of the layout and the staff had enough time for a chat. In fact, the staff was very knowledgeable and open in general, whether we spoke Frech, Dutch or English. Pries are good and the atmosphe is great. Very good bar!

Great beer bar at the heart of Brussels, nice ambience with nice decoration. Service was really good, staff was very knowledgable and helpfull, knew how to advice and suggest and was alwayes happy to help! Even though the selection of beers war really nice and affordable, with a great value-for-money ratio, the food was really expensive, and was the only drawback to my whole positive aspect.

I’ve visited this place loads of times and try to pop in whenever I’m in Brussels. It’s conveniently close to Cantillon and the center and is fairly big with an American bar kind of layout. Interesting tap selection with the local lambics and a varied selection of other unusual brews usually with a few Italians. Great and varied bottle menu though missing a lot of the old lambics nowadays. Some simple and cheap food options, decent quick and helpful service and a nice terrace area for when the weather is good.

Moeder Lambic’s second settlement, with a big selection of special beers including a lot of interesting foreign ones, but it’s about time they update their website (I was a bit disappointed to learn that both 3 Fonteinen Hommage and Stone Imperial Russian Stout were already sold out). Very friendly service, helpful and clearly passionate about the subject. It was not overcrowded as I had feared, despite it being a Friday night. Good tasting circumstances and some interesting beers on tap. They spend quite a lot of attention to the new Italian beer scene as well (and I was fortunate enough to have a chat with an Italian girl passionate about beer). Prices range from reasonable to very expensive, with a 300 euro 3 Fonteinen Millennium at the top end of the range. Very worthwile and interesting, I’ll frequent this a lot more in the future.

Visited several times but first as a ratebeerist. Situated 10-15 mins from Midi and 10 from Centraal a large single roomed bar with nice covered outside area. Landed in the midst of Italian beer weekend. All good stuff and great mix of Belgian and other beers on tap. A must if you visit Brussels
