Really don’t understand the high ratings for this place. Yes there are plenty of ’ticks’ for the saddo beer geeks but the place is utterly devoid of atmosphere. Good beer is one thing but I do like a nice cafe in which to drink it. LIke Brewdog cafes in the UK it’s the sort of hip, ’Place to be Seen’ cafe that will seem so dated in a few years. Only recommended to serious beer tickers. They also need to sort out the unbearable stink in the toilets.

Nice place. Nice seats. LIve band was playing, but that was more ennoying than entertaining... way too loud. But still, service is ok, selection is excellent... You can spend a nice evening there enjoying a few rare beers! Update: most of the time when you go there, it’s really quiet. Not many people visit this bar. But still, must do for every beer geek. Update²: Visited for over 50 times during the last 2-3 years. The standard selection they have is well chosen, with a lot of nice Belgian stuff (light/hoppy and lambics). The specials are always interesting as well. Mainly from France and Italy. A cool place with friendly bartenders. Highly recommended! TO EVERYONE VISITING BRUSSELS, give me a heads up, I’d love to trade/share some bottles!

Excellent place. Lots on tap, including several nice Cantillon. Staff were attentive and helpful. Location was easy to get to. Not a ton to select from in terms of food. Its also cool that they put some malted grains on your table to nibble on.

Cozy setting that has a lot of seating for not being that big of a place. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful tenders. The beer menu is, as others have stated, epic. There are a lot of cask ales that I bet are not available in more than five bars in Brussels. The food was average Belgian pub fare (we had some sausage and bread). Prices are good, about six or seven Euros for most of the beers. If in Brussels this is a must visit, OBVIOUSLY.

I went twice; once on a Tuesday night and then again on Wednesday afternoon. The place was busy but not overcrowded, naturally there were a lot of tourists there and many an English conversation to be heard. The beer board is epic; I dont think there’s any need to go on about that - it is well reviewed by people before me. Draft Cantillon is something that everyone should experience! The staff are great and always helping out. Whether that be waiting on tables or talking beers. Located in the centre and easily accesible by public transport links, which are right outside. Ambiance is cosy; dim lighting and a very comfortable setting. It did not feel overcrowded whatsoever - perhaps a different story at weekends though. The music playing in the background was conversation haltingly loud.

It’s about the best setting in Brussels that you could ask for, centrally located but not swarming with tourists, the front terrace provides sidewalk seating to give you a comprehensive view of Place Fontainas, and the beer selection is easily the best in the Brussels, and arguably the best in the world. That’s not something I say lightly, but understand on my visit they were pouring multiple Cantillons from cask, offered a half-dozen 4.0+ level hoppy golden Belgian ales (De la Senne, De Ranke, Jandrain), and Moeder is the only place known to carry the stellar bottle-conditioned Thiriez Jean Chris Nomad (a 4.5% blonde / saison made with myrrh.) If that was not enough, just prior to our visit they were featuring Gänstaller Bräu (Zoigl, Golden Smoked Zoigl and Affumicator, I shit you not). If your eyes are wider than just sour beer you can find a lot of depth in the beer menu and enjoy world class Belgian beer without shelling out hundreds of euros. I don’t throw out a lot of 100/100 scores, and it’s not that I consider a place scoring 100 to be "perfect", but rather I consider it the top of the game. Few places, if any, do good beer better than Moeder.
