We went to Saint-Gilles before we visited the Fontainas location, and the contrast between the two was interesting. This location is much smaller; space is limited, and the bar has seating for maybe five. If you get in, however, the selection - particularly of bottles - is outstanding. There’s only one beer menu, though, so plan your beers out while you have it. For all that it’s small, the location is well worth visiting, even if you’ve been to Fontainas. Great beer bar.

Sans doute un de mes bars préférés. j’y adore le choix de bières proposées ainsi que l’ambiance très conviviale ! A ne pas manquer quand on est de passage sur bruxelles !!!!

Revisited Feb 22, 2012. Much better feel, no blasting music, nice friendly service, rotating taps, drink local and get a DeLa Senne. Finally made it to ML in St-Gilles, working in Etterbeek being only a stone’s throw away. A more classical Belgian looking bar than its more modern Fontainas location which is not a bad thing. Interior is clean with heavy wooden benches/tables and a good deal of classic Belgian comic books to keep oneself busy. Beer selection is a little different than Fontainas, less draft, more bottles but the quality still shines and they are definitely supporting the Brussels breweries; Senne and Cantillon. I was not too fond of the atmosphere, whoever was working - or at least playing DJ before his shift - kept pumping out this loud French-Belgian gangsta techno-rap that I think has no room in an establishment such as ML. Or maybe I just have shitty music tastes. The other guy was not really busy, but his mind looked to be elsewhere and after asking him three times for the bottle selection he finally remembered me. Maybe a bad day, or maybe a day when the manager was not around. Too bad, because I really enjoy the quaint surroundings and the neighborhood.

A nice selection of bottlebeers. I loved the wooden furniture! Not a big pub but really nice.

St Gilles has a smaller, more personal ambiance than the Fontainas location. The service is decent, though impersonal. The selection is very strong, well curated. The value’s decent for draft beers and some bottles, though the prices for some of the rare sours will make your eyes water. I didn’t try the food, but it looked tasty. Overall, a great place.

I have visited this cozy bar several times over the past 10 years. It’s a great place to have a few good Belgians, but it’s off the beaten path. The barkeeps are quite friendly and helpful, unless the bar is very busy. The selection is outstanding, although it may be declining slightly, since the original owner sold the bar a year or so ago to invest in a new location called Delirium (better selection, but less ambience).

A great selection of geuze on draught as well as a great, if a little pricey, bottled beer list. I’ve had multiple draught Cantillon’s here when I’ve visited and we also got the Biere Darbyste which was amazing. I haven’t been to the new one yet but I can recommend this pub.

This is my first place I discovered couple of my favorite beers over 10 years ago. Back then I asked their suggestion and was always well advised. The folks there, they drink beers that’s for sure. This place can be easily crowded because it is just too small. but that is another of their charm. It’s far from being touristic and often , we find regular customers, mostly students and hipsters. The choice of beers served from tap is limited but vary from season to season. There is an amazing choice of bottles and sometimes we find some foreign exceptional brews. That’s where I drunk some of the Stone Brewery masterpieces ! Anyway it’s a nice place and always be on top for it’s authentic Brussels charm.

This being the original Moeder Lambic, it’s not as epic as the Fontainas location, but they have some good stuff as well. On my visit, they didn’t even have a printed bottle list, so they invited me to the back to scour their selection, which is pretty solid but not as extensive as the other location. Taplist is also quite minimal compared to the other place, but they do have a few Cantillons on tap. Prices seem slightly better than the Fontainas location. Worth a visit, but I doubt you’ll find much here that you can’t find at the other place.

Great place in Brussels to have micro beers. period. It’s funny that even though it’s not central, it almost always packed. Haven’t tried the food, but it looked tasty!
