Countbeer (252) Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, Netherlands | November 14, 2015
Visited on friday afternoon, really crowded but somewhat cosy. As expected a good choice of beers but just missing some more tap beers I guess... Lot of bottled beers to choose from although prices are from lightly more expensive to expensive.
Tap beers in different sizes and prices are regular for any craft beer bar in Brussels. The service is an absolute 10: polite, serving at the table, know what they are selling and take the time to explain their beers. Such a service is rare nowadays but absolutely a strong point from this place! When in the vicinity, make a stop! Recommended!
A nice outside terrace and a cozy bar inside. Quite small but this gives the staff more time to interact with customers. For me this makes it much more welcoming to someone on their own than the newer main branch. No menu beyond the chalk boards up on the wall which list tons of goodies on draft and in bottles that scratch the surface of what the cellars hold. They were kind enough to show me the cellar where they told me they’ll be a massive renovation where the restrooms on the first floor will be ripped out and a new entrance to the cellar installed which will become a bar/dinning area where they plan to have brunch. During this time it’ll be closed for 3 weeks. So if you’re coming in Sept/Oct 2015 call ahead.
Visited while in Brussels. Sister location of Moeder Lambic in Fontainis location. This a lot smaller location that is more of your neighborhood bar. Service was great with such a small bar. They had about 10 beers on tap but an extensive bottle selection like at their other location. We were able to try a couple of Cantillon classics and were able to take home some rare one off lambics to share with friends back home. Overall, another great bar, maybe not quite as great at their sister location but if you live in this neighborhood would be a great day to day bar to have. Would recommend visiting it and the other location while in Brussels.

Visited October 2012 with chinoskillzian and womencantsail.
This was our second day in Brussels but also our 14th day in Europe so by this point we were getting sick and tired of each other (chinoskillzian actually had gotten sick at some point in Brussels). Navigating the streets down through the lower income areas of Brussels wasn’t easy without a map or phone reception so after a lot of bickering and wrong turns we finally got to where we were heading. This version of Moeder is essentially a lesser version of the Fontinas location. They also have the Cantillon LH12 and some other neat beers but a lot of the stuff that particularly interesting to us was sold out sadly (the JeanChris 1 and 2 as well as a few other things). Womencantsail listed five beers and the first four were sold out. It wasn’t until later (back at Hotel ‘you can sleep in the stairwell’ Barry) that we learned that the Cantillon Kriek that we ordered on draft is a different tick than the regular (bottled) kriek. We sat next to some very friendly Belgians that made the experience more entertaining. Also, they have a large collection of Cantillon empties on display, with at least a few that I’d never even heard of. This is a fun place with a great beer lineup. Check it out.
Absolutely worth a visit. Great selection on par with the Fontinas location, but a much better atmosphere. I hate using the term, but this really did feels very much like a Brooklyn "hipster" joint. Dark and slight dingy inside (in a good way), nice sets outside to take in the sights of a beautiful neighborhood. Great beer. Great bread and cheese. Really nice place.
Small, cozy bar abit out of the center of town, but easy reachable with tram 3 or 4 to Albert station, and then a short 5 minutes walk. Good taplist, about 15 taps, good varity of beers served in good quality. Good bottlelist aswell. A little pricy, but not that bad. Good service who spoke a fine english. A good visit, but i slightly prefer the Fontaines location to this.
Personally I like more this than the "moeder fontains", the place is small but u feel like at home. Selection is very good and the bottle list is huge! Also the cheese that i tried were very good.My advice is to visit both places, if u don’t have time for that just go for this one!
Great place to drink a beer. Very cosy interior and good food.
