One of the nicer place to have a beer in Europe. Moeder Lambic Saint-Gilles is installed in a nice and calm neighborhood on a hill on Brussels. Ouside the place looks like as a small french bistro. Inside itís really amazing the style of the tables and the benchs is incredible, in front of the windows you have a nice collection of typical brussels comics to spend time with your beer or you can ask for cards or games at the bar. About the beer selection, really amazing you have belgium and european beers on tap and all of them are from small breweries and cheap for the kind of beer. Bar keepers are nice and amazing to give you advice about the choice. About food you can take snack like cheese or sausage. This place is for really beer geek and beer lovers. I really recommend it!

A nice outside terrace and a cozy bar inside. Quite small but this gives the staff more time to interact with customers. For me this makes it much more welcoming to someone on their own than the newer main branch. No menu beyond the chalk boards up on the wall which list tons of goodies on draft and in bottles that scratch the surface of what the cellars hold. They were kind enough to show me the cellar where they told me theyíll be a massive renovation where the restrooms on the first floor will be ripped out and a new entrance to the cellar installed which will become a bar/dinning area where they plan to have brunch. During this time itíll be closed for 3 weeks. So if youíre coming in Sept/Oct 2015 call ahead.

Not as sheer brilliant as itís bigger and newer sister at Fontainas, but still a very cosy, really nice bar with a beer list that puts most bars to shame. Deep, deep shame. Relatively reasonable prices, and everything is well annotated at a myriad of blackboards and signs. Outside seating. Lovely place.

I have probably more than a hundred time to the Fontainas location but I finally made it out to this one. Thanks for the ride AdamChandler. Out of the city center, finding a parking spot was near impossible for the driver. Quite small but very cozy. Selection is similar to the new location but smaller. Noting in the way of ticks for me but a world class selection. Prices were okay considering the quality. The thing that really drew me to this place is the amazing cozy selection, were warm & lovely, a real neighborhood bar, touch hipster but just perfect to drink spectacular beers. I wish this was near where I live so that I could be here all of the time. It is similar to the Fontainas location but just so much more cozy & neighborhood like. The selection is just so perfect as is the atmosphere.

My rating of this place is based on one casual visit on a Sunday afternoon during the Ascension weekend. We found the remaining available table outside and noticed quickly that there was a single overworked waitress on duty. I walked to the bar in an attempt to get an overview of all the beers available and with the hope of possibly finding an extended bottle menu with all the vintage beers I was hoping to find and pay dearly for here. In the end I probably ended up stressing the poor waitress, who became acutely aware of my desire to get a beer but having to serve all the other tables waiting for service first. Anyway I ended up getting a few good beers this way but upon asking whether they kept any vintage beer I was told they didnít really do that and Kulminator in Antwerp was really the place to go to for this kind of experience. So I came away from this place with the impression that itís more of a casual everyday place with a solid standard and rotating selection on tap not entirely unlike Danish beer bars such as ōrsted ōlbar and SÝernes ōlbar. This impression may be wrong and unjust but itís a bit hard to get a different impression when there is not enough staff at hand to really have the time to give you the low down on what is available. Nice and cosy place but I guess they expect you to do your homework and download their beer menu from the website before visiting if you want to try any of the fancy vintage stuff... I hope to come back another day with a more dedicated beer geek focus..

Stopped in here on an afternoon. Itís just a short walk from one of the train stops. I canít remember at the moment, but itís one of the last stops that go south. There is indoor and outdoor seating. When we arrived, the outside seating was full, and we were the only people that sat inside. All of their beers, including their bottles, written on chalk boards placed all over the walls. This location doesnít have quite as large of a selection as the Fontainas location, but the exceptional quality is still there. Our server was not as friendly as the ones we had in the city, so I canít really speak to his beer knowledge. I imagine it would be hard to get a job here if you arenít beer savvy, though. Anyway, the beer we ordered was served in the proper labeled glass, and arrived quickly after we ordered it. Pricing was pretty good. Pretty good beer spot overall. I would come back here anyway.

Iíve been planning to visit this place for years and finally made it last Friday. Small but cosy, friendly atmosphere and good selection with attention for foreign beer trends, still a rare phenomenon in Belgium. The owner was among the most passionate and welcoming beer guys I ever met: he even offered me to take a look at the cellar, where we exchanged our views on aging beer; after that, he even offered me a few beers, including a vintage Abbaye des Rocs, for free. If this was closer to where I live, Iíd visit this every week. I left the place with a happy feeling. Highly recommended!

The better of the two locations by far in my opinion. A bit out side of the downtown area, itís the quintiessential Belgian Beer Bar. Really nice bottle and tap selection. A small selection of meats and cheeses. Knowledgable staff and proper presentation.
