88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 after4ever (213) Brier, Washington | March 29, 2013 Evidence that you don’t need an amazing structure to make a great business.
This is a little beer mini-mecca that’s been carved out of a crummy old convenience store. They appear to have done this by sheer force of will. It’s a great bottle shop, and they always have a great tap list. They even have food!
You walk in and the front has a few tables, some wine displays merched out, and an aisle or two of packaged foods for sale. It still has that convenience store feel, at least for a few square feet--racks of candy bars, and so on.
But past that is a medium-sized seating area with a dozen or so tables and about 700-800 bottles in coolers and on shelves. They get a solid cross-section of West Coast (the emphasis), other domestics, and imports. They get their fair share of special releases both in bottle and on tap.
The staff are really nice, and the prices are solid enough. There’s usually a food truck parked outside, and the place gets really busy. If you like good beer, this place will eventually be a must-stop for you. Sooner or later, either curiosity or something good in stock nowhere else has to bring every beer lover here. It’s not the first stop for out of town visitors, but they’re very good at what they do, and they won’t let you down. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 luttonm (96) Belgrade, Serbia | January 3, 2013 What a great spot! Glad to finally visit. Strange location, but cool. Extensive bottle selection, quite a few things (mostly Pac NW locals) I hadn’t seen in Seattle before, plus plenty of fancier specials and imports. Even random things like Tusker from Kenya. But I’ll stay for the great tap list, which they’ll serve in half-pints. All available for growlers (and half growlers). Food trucks park out front daily, which is very cool. Great spot, worth a special trip if you’re in town, and wish it was in my neighborhood. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 mcberko (134) Vancouver, British Columbia | December 9, 2012 Great tap selection with 38 on tap. Stopped here right after a bunch of IIPAs were tapped so I was in heaven. Not served in proper glassware though, at least not to my liking. Bottle selection is solid, though prices are slightly higher than elsewhere. Definitely worth a stop if in the area. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 philbertk (16) Seattle, Washington | November 21, 2012 Great Neighborhood Place | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 OldMrCrow (55) Seattle, Washington | September 30, 2012 Dang solid beer market with a pretty darn impressive selection of West coast beers and decent stock beyond. 30 taps, pretty chill vibe, nice place. | 92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 BRR (1) Washington | August 15, 2012 Love this place. Awesome selection that is strongest on the domestics, but still has a good selection of int’l brews. Easy-going and friendly. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 CampesinoTino (71) Seattle, Washington | July 10, 2012 Excellent selection and quality mix of taps make it one of the top Seattle bottle shops. Would definitely make this my neighborhood hangout if I lived in the area. | 94 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 Petronius (24) Seattle, Washington | April 20, 2012 Simply amazing! Along with the knowledgeable stuff(Chuck himself is god-like) there are lots of well-picked taps and even more so bottles. Beer and wine tastings, homebrewer’s get-togethers, espresso&ice-cream, FOOD. You’ll always find beer nerds hanging out here; besides, the crowd is not as pretentious as at Bottleworks. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 Dwebs (2) , | March 6, 2012 We love going to Chucks, totally unique spot as a former grocery store turned beer drinkers haven. They have so many great beers and if they don’t have it, talk to Chuck. He can get it. | 88 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 Smurf2055 (24) Seattle, Washington | December 9, 2011| Updated February 14, 2012 Probably my favorite bottle shop in the Seattle area. Prices are pretty standard, the selection is as good as any you will find, plus he’s got a bunch of rotating taps with local stuff and other goodies. Chuck and his staff always seem very knowledgeable and helpful. They are nice guys to just have a conversation with. You can tell he loves his job. Makes a damn fine IPA braut too. It could pass as a corner convenience store, but make no mistake, this is a great place to hit up.
