A cool convenience store with a has station feel but great vibe. A nice patio outside. Service was a bit slow but we basically arrived at last call. About 40 taps and a real strong bottle selection. Limited samplers available. Food trucks seem do stop by often and Iíll never complain about a 6 buck sampler. Quite a spot!

Lively, almost chaotic place on a Friday night. Convenience store conversion with craploads of bottles to be had for a fair corking fee and 40ish taps. Ambience was all over the place, from nerds like me to little kids and dogs. Had fun, but the family side of it made it hard to want to stay too long.

Yet another convenience store conversion. Patio and a small bar are nice additions. Very crowded but local crowd that is very nice. Impressive tap and bottle list, although prices are a bit on the higher side. Service shines with beer geeks manning the till and taps. They really know their stuff and arenít afraid to say what they feel. Local snacks and food trucks out front. I liked it and will be back.

Chuckís is an awesome place due to their helpful staff, the excellent selection of beer, and their food offerings (from a pretzel with "crappy cheese" to rotating food trucks). Their bottle prices are a little bit above average, but their draft prices are pretty decent. They have something like 40 beers on tap, and about half of those are usually IPAs. The place can get a little cramped and since itís family neighborhood, there are usually kids and dogs there. The staff is great, going out of their way to let you sample beers on tap and are patient with you while you try to make up your mind.

I donít get why this place is so popular personally. If you arenít walking or biking, parking can be a pain in the ass. The store seems cluttered with items for sale, often with beer stored in less than desirable conditions. Draft selection is usually pretty solid, but prices are on the high side (same with the bottles), and the glassware sucks (enough with mason jars). I guess the idea behind the store works in a neighborhood where parents donít have a ton of options to grab a beer and bring their kids in. For me, I would rather not enjoy my beer in such an environment. Probably worth a stop for an out of towner who is in the area, but being a local this isnít a place I would frequent.

This former grocery store has turned into a great neighborhood pub and beer shop with locals of the Greenwood area in the north of Seattle bringing the family along for an evening beer. Very nice atmosphere with an outdoor seating area. 38 taps with beer from all over the Pacific NW, as well as beer from more remote states (such as Avery The Czar). Oh, and thousands of bottled beer. Cool place. No need to give the full overview, since others have covered it, but stuff I like: Big draft list with some nice offerings; I can take my kid here; Can also shop for bottles; Friendly vibe; Stuff I donít like as much: the pint as a standard serving unit (no interest in a $14 pint of tasty, strong beer, though I guess half-pints are available if you ask); bottle prices are a bit high (by about 10% or so). Itís sort of hard to figure out if this is intending to be more of a bottle shop or more of a bar. Itís somewhere in between, with a good dash of convenience store thrown into the mix.

(Visited 09/2013): Chuckís is located in the north part of Ballard on the corner of NW 85th and 8th. There is a small parking lot in front of the building.

After passing a small patio in front, the interior opens to a convenience store style layout with shelves along the right and perimeter, including some coolers toward the rear. There is a small walk up bar in the back left corner, with a digital board above the bar listing what is on tap. Yellow walls, and a painted logo with the words "Land of a Thousand Beers".

As for the beers, there are exactly 38 on draught, including breweries like Bakwoods, Elysian, Odin and Fort George. Growlers are available for draught beer. The bottled selection amounts to hundreds, including many west coast breweries like Bruery, Lost Abbey, Elysian, Pike and Almanac. Lots of singles and imports as well.

Service on a relatively slow weekend afternoon was good both at the bar and while I was shopping. These guys definitely know their beer.

I did not have any food on my visit.

Overall this is a solid beer store to visit in the Seattle area, and the option of enjoying a pint before, during or after shopping is a great bonus.

This spot was nice. Lots of bottles for there or takeaway, decent tap list but prices seemed high. They have daily food trucks outside and I took up the biscuit truck quite well. Iíd come here again but they are pretty far north of seattle.
