A cosy basic but charming pub in the heart of old Ludlow. Bare floorboards and church pews for seats. A fair selection of real ales on tap, about 8, mostly localish. Great pies - delicious and satisfying. Service is friendly and prompt. Would definitely come back here if I ever find myself in Ludlow again.

2014 Rating 66. Not the pub it used to be, I have to say. It remains as busy and popular as ever but it seems to be struggling to maintain its reputation. The beers were pretty average now, compared to before where there was more choice of styles and Breweries. The pub is looking a little faded and worn but having said that it is still easily the best in town. The Ludlow Pie Company, which is a majority of the food on offer isnít making pies as I know them, these appear to be casseroles with a bit of pastry on top.
2004 rating 80. The Church Inn is a gem within many gems. It is a true Free House run by a CAMRA member who has a particular interest in providing top notch local beers with a choice of interesting guests. Along with the English Ales a good selection of Belgian and German Beers are also sold in correct glassware. The pub is always packed to the rafters on a friday / Saturday right throughout the day and the locals are proud to have this classic in their town. The food is traditional and consistently good.
The region is well worth a visit as it is very traditional and unspoilt.

Ah, ticks all the boxes. Roaring fire, nooks and crannies, decent sausages, Champion Beer of Britain 2007 on handpull, buxom wenches - well, it was the weekend of the medieval fayre at the castle. Evern the ipod-driven music was eclectic and entertaining. Well worth the visit.

Funny little local, but with a great selection of beers. Staff extremely friendly and the bar was full of interesting characters. Iím sure it will be the only time I will hear "Did I hear you mention corregated iron?" shouted across the bar and then for the two old fellaís to start exhanging corregated iron facts and history!

Visited here in March and was very impressed. Great selection of real ales, and a friendly lively pub that had a good mixture of age ranges. Service was good and would reccomend to anyone in the area.

Excellent pub with 8 interesting real ales, well kept. We stayed over - the aaccommodation is cheap & clean. We got a room with a spa bath and a balcony with a view of the church. The food was very good trad pub food. There is a separate room for non-smokers as well as a no-smoking area within the main bar. Recent winners of the local camra branch and regional pub of the year awards.
