92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 nbutler11 (301) Phoenix, Arizona | November 17, 2012 Lives up to the brand’s reputation. Worn in decor and knowledgeable staff. The televisions being tuned to brewing instead of sports demonstrate an added level of dedication to the craft. Limited bottle offerings, but AMAZING system for growlering from their epic tap selection. Fun brewery tours to boot! | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 ryanfolty (154) Minneapolis, Minnesota | October 20, 2012 Made a special trip on 10.19.12 after a week in Orlando to visit the brewery and was so glad I did! Wasn’t planning on doing the tour so didn’t sign up in advance. There weren’t many people there at lunchtime so the tour guide twisted my arm with a deal of the tour and a pint glass filled with any beer on tap for $5. Steve the tour guide was amazing. It was supposed to be an hour tour, but he answered my many questions even though we went way over on time and the next tour was almost 30 minutes late in starting. Plus we got to try some beer that isn’t even for sale to the public yet. My service rating would be a 10 if just due to Steve, but the bartenders kind of seemed like they would rather be somewhere else. One of them told me I could not trade my wife’s pint glass for a snifter and then another couple joined the tour and had one of each. I inquired and they said the bartender was fine with them getting one of each for the tour. There were 3 behind the bar so I must have picked unwisely. In any event, the beer was great, especially Leon and Zhukov. Overall, this was a great visit and made me want to move to Tampa. That won’t happen, but a return trip is already in the works. | 82 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 youdictategood (9) Florida | October 12, 2012 Not much of a setting, but the tours are lively and the tasting room has a great, ever-changing selection. Go on a weekday if at all possible - it can get pretty crowded on the weekends, and service starts to suffer. and take home a growler or two! | 78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 16/20 erickok (87) Tours, France | September 26, 2012 Located in an industrial type area next to the airport. Did an afternoon brewery tour here, which was guided enthusiastically and with lots of time for questions. ’Even’ in Cigar City people often don’t know what an IPA is, it seems, but there was also time for slightly more in-depth info. The tour is next to the tasting room, in the ’old’ brewery, and a brewing process was going on right at that moment. Nice to be able to taste directly from the tanks. Tour is fairly short yet inexpensive en served with a beer (and glass you can keep). The tasting tour was sort of simple and I expected more different bottles on sale, but the tap list is excellent. The 6 dollar (4 tasting glasses) sampler option is great. Also enough merch available. Prices are very reasonable. The tour guide and same brewers liked the De Molen beers I brought them and we’re very grateful. Too bad there’s a relative limited amount of bottles available (and no sour stuff). | 30 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 3/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 4/20 lapalou (1) Florida | September 15, 2012 Great beers...avoid weekend your times noon to mid day. Otherwise it can’t be beat for great craft brew. Always changing taps and adding new stuff. Increasing popularity may ruin what is a fantastic place for good brew. The growlers are okay but hope the continue to expand the selection. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 MattH (41) California | September 2, 2012 Nice selection of quality beers. More beers on tap than any of the California breweries I’ve visited. Decent amount of space to drink. You can get four tasters for six bucks. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 BeanDip (11) Florida | August 17, 2012 Sorry...I’m a little partial to CCB. Haven’t been there recently but due for a visit. Will update after that.
True the service sometimes can be patchy but I bet Michael is doing a good job of creating good, consistent, service!
Bring your own food and pair with great CCB delection and guest taps (nice touch). | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 15/20 dbelcher5761 (3) Florida | August 16, 2012 Overall, I am a huge CCB fan but the tasting room has seen better days. The more popular CCB gets, the more crowded the tasting room gets and sometimes, especially on the weekends, the bar line can get annoyingly long. Don’t get me wrong, I am thrilled to see the growth of this place but sometimes you can see quite clear that the bartenders get very fed up with customers the busier they get and sometimes can come off quite rude. Now when the tasting room is slow, you get the best service you could ask for and is a lovely place to visit, so pick your time and day wisely.
Overall, it’s a great place with a huge selection of CCB regulars and brewery only brews. Small bottle selection in the cooler and limited growler fills of CCB regulars. I really with and hope that we see more growler offerings in the future.
I am very anxious to see how the expansion effects the tasting room and I am sure big things are in the future. I can’t know express my appreciation enough for the CCB staff to allow RB to hold weekly tastings there, it is awesome that they go out of their way to accommodate a tasting group. | 74 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 2/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 15/20 Blitzstyle (10) Florida | August 11, 2012| Updated August 12, 2012 Not sure why the tasting room is rated so high. I have been there at least 40 times in the last 2 years and the service is absolutely dreadful. The beers are fantastic and there is a great selection of Cigar City drafts plus a few guest taps from other breweries. A must stop for anyone visiting from out of town. Just wish they would h7ire a few more bartenders. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 maekchu (31) Hirakata, Japan | August 9, 2012 Brewery and tasting room in a smallish sort of industrial/business park near Tampa airport. 24 taps, including 7 guest beers. Tables for 30 people and bar seats for maybe 15. An area for playing darts at one end of the bar. Heavy metal and rock on the sound system. At 2pm., on a Wednesday afternoon there were only a few customers; by 4pm it was getting noisy and crowded. Very mixed crowd. Service was okay: one server was quite friendly; later a few more came on, who were less so and seemed uninterested in discussing and/or answering questions about the beers. I did have a good, and very informative, chat with a packaging guy from the brewery who was taking a smoke break. There was only one single solitary menu sheet, but fortunately almost no one else wanted to see it. Also, a fairly strong scent of cleaning solution was in the air, though I noticed it less as time passed. Anyway, forget all that. This place is about great beer. Tasters of four available for $6. I tried 12 and they were all good, some wonderful. No food service, but there are some snacks and chips for sale. Growler sales, too, but not for the higher-gravity beers. Limited bottle sales and some merchandise, too. If you want to try a wide variety of CCB brews, you gotta go there. I sure do plan on going back. |
