72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 t0rin0 (184) La Verne, California | April 29, 2013 Visited when they opened, one or two more times shortly after, and then over the weekend for their third anniversary.
Nice area but a bit off the beaten path if you’re not from the area. These guys were nice enough to hook us up with a keg for RBSG. The brewers are really nice guys and pretty much have to work the bar themselves since they are a small operation. Actually the place is tiny. They expanded into the unit next door and have a bigger system now but there isnt room for much more than 20 or 30 people in the place.
Some of the iterations of their stout have been pretty good as have some of their hefes but I refuse to pay for anything they bottle as it’s usually in the $10-$20 range for a 22oz.
No food served here but there are a few restaurants in the shopping center and they dont mind if you bring food in. Prices are normally OK but the anniversary beers were absolutely ridiculous. A flight of 6 barrel aged beers was $20 and a glass of Black’s Dawn plus 2 tasters of barrel aged beers was $18.
Random bit of trivia: this used to be another brewery (that did all malt extract, not grain) called Saddleback Brewery. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 womencantsail (390) Garbage Grove, California | August 2, 2012 This place is seriously tiny, probably more than a handful of people and this place would be overcrowded. A handful of beers on tap, some are good, some are bad, most are mediocre. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 JohnC (147) Mission Viejo, California | April 10, 2010 This small brewery is located in a shopping center that’s full of various different types of shops. I’d guess that it’s about the size of greeting card store.
It’s nice inside, the service and people were very friendly. I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit, but if I were in the area it’s definitely worth seeking out. |
