82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 t0rin0 (248) La Verne, California | June 5, 2013 Visited for the first time during the 5th anniversary week. I was lucky enough to have business in the city during that time and got some bottles of Wanderer and Open Container. Back then (only a couple years ago) they only had the one unit. Very tight space. Only stuck around long enough to buy the bottles, grab a pint, and head back to work. Since they expanded I’ve been a few more times for events during beer week.
People like to complain about their prices (they are high) but they also have some older bottles that are priced surprisingly low. They had Partridge for $40 the last time I looked in the fridge. They also had some interesting stuff that I wouldnt pay for but was neat to see in the fridge like Rories Ale, Beatification 003, and their anniversary beers.
Over all a cool place but its not really that close to any places I visit often. | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 Steve_0 (87) Denver, Colorado | June 3, 2013 Really cool beer store with a nice tap list. We went here 4 days after their 7th Anniversary party, so the tap list was especially cool during our visit. I sipped on a couple Societe Apprentices while my wife had Cascade Figaro. The bottle selection is also great and you can open anything in the store, if you choose. There is a vintage bottle cooler, with a lot of exceptional choices, that is worth checking out, although they are a bit pricey. Service was great and the owner was very helpful and even gave us suggestions for his favorite wineries and restaurants to check out. This was easily my favorite place of our visit to San Francisco and should be a "must-see" for anyone in town. I left with a backpack full of beer and will definitely return in the future. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 lusikka (32) Tampere, Finland | May 19, 2013 Oct 2012. 15 minute walk from the Civic Center BART station. A small beer store packed with an amazing beer selection and some vintage beers. It’ll take a while to scan through the entire selection but it’s worth it. They have a surprisingly good selection of Scandinavian beers as well, well, To Øl, Evil Twin and Mikkeller mostly, but still. Classic Belgian beers are well presented.
They have 15 taps including very special beers. For me the best ones were super-fresh New Belgium Lips of Faith Super IPA and Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA. Also, they serve beer cocktails such as the Supercharger (Super IPA + 120 Minute IPA). The staff was very friendly. A must visit in SF. | 84 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 wchesser (28) Denver, Colorado | April 16, 2013 This place rocks...always stop in when in SF for business. Friendly helpful staff. Shared a Black Albert I bought with some other folks at the bar... Couldn’t finish it after the speedway stout on draft I had just had given it was a schoolnight. Can order food from great place down the block and bring it in. | 88 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 19/20 DocJitsu (21) California | March 31, 2013 The best bottle shop in the Bay area. Service is always cheerful, willing, and helpful. They recently expanded to make room for even more beers. Love visiting this place. | 86 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 TeamTrappist (21) jericho, New York | March 19, 2013 I only had a short window of time to get here and I’m quite glad I did. Clean and small, with a bar that wraps around half their space and a few tables off of the bar. I did manage a seat at the bar and found the bar staff to be busy, but pleasant and certainly knowledge. Nice varied tap list that covered pale ales to imp stouts and a fabulous barley wine. I find it important to be able to obtain the style of beer you may want next and this was easily accomplished here. Nice reserve bottle list, but at somewhat of a premium cost. Those beers were only available for In house consumption. The rest of the space is refrigerated and shelved beers which could also be consumed there if desired. A staff member spent some time helping me pick 3 bottles to travel with(space was limited) and he took his time and really helped me. I only had an hour to spend here; and it was time very well spent. Others had noted how packed it could be here, by appearances seemece valid. I highly recommend visiting here. | 88 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 DavidWoodruff (22) Windsor, California | March 15, 2013 A must stop for any beer enthusiast. | 80 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 arfor (3) , | March 15, 2013 A high quality selection of beer, I found it has a decent number. The atmosphere is decent, although a bit plain, so not amazing. Also recommended to get some bottled beers. Pretty knowledgeable owner. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 Ibrew2or3 (301) Tempe, Arizona | February 27, 2013 So hype - plenty about this place. The place has a nice well thought out selection all stored cold for your futures beer’s protection. There are a few taps of interesting offerings and there are a few bottle offerings that may not be found elsewhere. Outside of this there’s not much to this place. It is a decent walk from BART and I haven’t been here yet when I can take advantage of what they have to offer tap wise or bottle wise because in one case the tiny space was too crowded to try and enjoy a beer and in the other case the bottle offerings and the price or selection I was really not what I was after. Not sure I’ll be back as so far it hasn’t been worth the trip. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 jhogan4 (36) El Cajon, California | February 16, 2013 Stopped in here around lunchtime, while visiting SF. What a great place; wish I had come here instead of Toronado 2 nights earlier. Store is a few steps down from street level. Has a bar area with a bunch of Eclipses, Abysses and other rare bottles available only for consumption there. 8-10 on tap also. Nice shop with maybe 200 bottles for take home. Great place for any beer geek. |
