Brighton shop. This is a smallish elegant shop nestled off the paradeground of the helmet-haired/ chest-wigged Brighton folk who graze to schmooze and their egregious offspring (can you tell that I don’t like crossing the Nepean?). This is not your encylopedia-in-transition sort of place: the selection is modest (around 120) but focused on interesting (but not at all always pricey) things. When I walked in I was the sole customer and the bloke was on the phone to someone who was obviously both mate and supplier. He went to wind up the conversation but when I indicated I was happy to look on my own for a while carried on. Later when I had a query or two he could answer and seemed happy to chat indefinitely. Seems the sort of place you could drop in fortnightly and find something well worth your time and money.

The Brighton shop is long gone and the Sth Melbourne one is much diminished - I guess the beer focus has gone to Slowbeer. Up the back there are still a few things.

I have only ordered online, but the service is pretty good (even if my order was delayed), prices are good (except for some imports) and selection is very good for australia. Would love to make it to the physical store.

Clarendon St store has a good range. But only been to Brighton store once.

Visited the Clarendon store which has a small but quality range of beers. I managed to grab the last bottle of Holgate’s Christmas Ale which I didn’t see anywhere else - even the brewery didn’t have stock. Most beers are available on the website and the guys are opening up a beer dedicated store (Slow Beer) in Hawthorne soon.

Maybe it was just the store I went into (Clarendon St.), but beer selection was really quite small, and very disorganised. Guy behind counter was not overly helpful, and when asked about a beer that I had seen on their website, they said they had never heard of it... Luckily Swords was open at the South Melbourne Market. Who knows, maybe their other stores are better stocked?!

Pretty smart little store in Burke Rd. Usual suspects on the Aussie micro front but had a good selection on the belgian side of things. A short cab ride from center of town, staff had good knowledge of whats on the shelf. Over all worth a look.

...first stop in the Burke Rd store. Was at first disappointed in the selection, but then realized what they do have is pecuiar. Great selection of aussie micros, and also belgian wit’s, and german hefe’s. The attendant was more of a wine guy, but seemed nice enough. Prices were very reasonable, and I will return to this cellar again.

Been to both the Brighton and South Melbourne Stores.. both have an excellent range, Victorian Micros and Belgians in particular are well stocked... and I reckon the prices are the best you’ll find in Melbourne. Staff are friendly, always willing to talk about beer and breweries. Pretty much my number 1 stop in town for buying beers.

Great selection of beer and wine. Quite a few imports and micros I haven’t seen before. Staff are always happy to help or have a yarn.
