Bartender with an attitude in a place that serves mediocre beer and barely passable food. There is better value anywhere else in Spokane. Obviously wouldnít recommend Steam Plant to anyone, particularly selective beer drinkers.

Very nice restaurant brew pub. Good pub grub and service. Very open still.

Environment: Absolutely one of my favorite environments to go to. They restored and repurposed just enough of the old steam plant to make this place an incredible restaurant. Beer: The beer on tap here is a decent variety and includes a local favorite...VBS ( vanilla bourban stout). The stout is a great 'gateway stout' to bring people over to the 'dark' side. It's not very thick, sweet, and malty. Food: Overpriced and terrible. After giving this place 3 different opportunities with entrees appetizers and desserts, I give up. I won't go here for any food again.

Nice unique setting in the basement of the old steam plant. Was fairly busy when we visited on a Tuesday evening. It does have a very corporate & confused feel to the place; is it a bar, fancy restaurant, brew-pub, tourist centre....or all 4? As noted earlier, this is a bit of a pricey place to eat & drink, but the food portions are large, so kinda make up for this. Had a few beers, one being the brown ale on cask. The server described it as a light Newcastle Brown Ale once Iíd ordered it; WTF??? Thankfully, it was nothing like Newkie Brown, as this cask ale had flavour & body. Anyway, worth visiting if your in Spokane, but not a place to go out of your way for. Pleasent enough!

The bar is in the basement of the restaurant. It was clean and nicely decorated. I was there on Wed night at 6, it was pretty empty.
They had 10 beers on tap and 1 cask. I didnít have time to try more than 1 beer, so Iíll be back next time Iím in town.

I thought this was a great place. The setting was fantastic. Overall though I think the message/theme is confusing. Is it a brew-pub or higher end eatery with great beer? It should decide and be one or the other. When I was there a family group wandered in, ordered soda-pops, walked around and then left. I assume they did not agree with the food prices or something else. There is the requisite Couer díAlene Brewery swag on display yet it isnít clear who is running the place. The brewery or Steam Plant Grill. I on the other hand was perfectly happy to quaff quality brews and enjoy some good pub food. Great Bison burger! If I need to stop in Spokane I will definitely put this place at the top of my list.

Jan 2008 - The place is really cool with all the steam plant stuff. We went around noon on a Saturday and the place was absolutely dead. Not sure how busy it gets in the evenings, but I can see the bar filling up fast. The food was ok, and $5 for a bowl of soup, Iíll just stick to the beer. Service could have been better since it was pretty quiet, but not terrible. Iíll go back for sure.

Located in an old steam plant, the CDA brewing company has done a great job on this location. It is a real testament to what can be done with an old building. The good here is very good, and a more upscale than some of the other brew pub fare you might find. The service has been excellent and I think that the beers are very good.

May 2007 - This is a really, really cool location, inside an old steam plant. We went during the dead afternoon hours, but I can imagine this place does some bang-up business during the happy hour. We didnít eat -- just a few beers, which were all good. Bartender was friendly and knowledgeable. Nice visit.

Beer is good, not great. Ditto for the food. The service was excellent -- friendly people. The location is convenient and the building is really cool... worth a visit to see it.
